For those saying 160lbs and no less, do you realize that Martinez vs Williams II was at a catchweight? I would hope it would be at 154lbs or 155lbs if it were to happen against Floyd.

Martinez will be severely weight drained at 154. Floyd must fight Martinez at 160. Martinez would be a walking corpse at 154.

martinez is naturally a 154 lber, he himself said he woke up one morning, stepped on the scales and weighed 150 lbs, this is why he said he could get to 150 to make a may/pac fight happen if that's what need be, so to say he would be a walking corpse at 154 a la de la hoya at 147 vs. pac is ignorant, also i wish i could see these *******s reactions if pac fought martinez at 150, i'm quite sure they would vehemently defend the fight and talk how martinez was never a natural MW, but since floyd might be fighting him of course they sing a different tune

If sergio beats Floyd, I'm not giving him credit either way. He gets more credit for the Williams & Pavlik wins.

If Floyd wins, I'm not giving him credit unless it's at 160. The same standard that I apply to Delahoya vs Pacquiao. You may be beating a name, but you're not beating him at his proper weight. And usually, the bigger guy doesn't shrink down to fighter smaller fighters, it's the other way around.

The bigger fighter's abilities are far more hindered if he shrunk down a weight class, then the abilities of the smaller fighter, who is moving up. Moving up only means, less dieting during the training camp.

Way to exaggerate. Moving up to Heavyweight isn't quite the same as moving up 8 pounds (147 to 155 is all that's required). He isn't going to KO or out-muscle Sergio anyway, so it's all about whether he can Outbox the Boxer, use his defense and block the punches that P.Williams couldn't.

If he can't, he losses. If he can, more power to him. There is no question that Sergio is the bigger guy in height and body mass. Hell, that's why he is the MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP.

If you want credit, you beat the Middleweight Champ the way he is, not the Jr.Middleweight or Welterweight.

Floyds biggest fight against ODLH was at 154, Floyd weighed in at 150 for that fight... seeing how Martinez is more dangerous then ODLH... this fight would be at either 150 or 154.... i mean damn people think about it if Pac wanted Martinez it would be at 154 or lower... Floyd fighting the guy period is a bigger better fight then anything Pac has been in the last 4 yrs....

If Floyd fights and beats Martinez I would consider him fighter of the year even if it's his only fight that year, as long as it happens in 2012 though cause Martinez isn't getting any younger. i wouldn't even care if he never fights Pac cause I think Martinez would be a trickier fight given his style and size advantage. I probably don't spend enough time on these boards cause I can't remember any one hating on the idea of this fight the way op stated.

There are Mayweather Martinez threads on the front page that have posters saying that Floyd only wants to fight Sergio because he's overrated and was exposed against Barker.
