Sad Chad and Fat Gary Shaw do little or nothing for the sport of boxing.

Hopkins is going to prey on this guy's weak mentality and make him just another name on the list.

I'm all in favour of the link-up with Scully. It's the right emotional choice for Chad at this moment, and we all know how important the mental aspect of boxing is.

If anyone has ever read John talk about Chad on here, you could really feel the pride and connection he felt in coaching Chad. That tells me they aren't going to half-ass camp.

People get too blind-sided with trainer reputations on this forum, as if Steward, Roach, Floyd Sr and even Uncle Roger (!) can completely fix any fighter coming off a loss/unconvincing win.

Quick comment on this whole statement by Dawson and his team: No Class! They should have been kissing Stewards ass that he took them on after Chad jumped Mustaffa's ship and looked to be slipping.


id have to agree with this post though, maybe Scully can motivate Chad to reach deep but I think due to the nature and timing of the situation Emmanuel probably had a very good plan/strategy already thought out for this fight, Not sure how quickly Scully will pull it together and how effective he can be in this situation.

You have to wonder about Chad's confidence in himself also.

The guy had a world renowned trainer, had a pretty good fight with him against Diaconu who is a tough customer then decides.... not good enough and jumps ship again? I dont think his head is in the right place for this fight against BHOP but he may be catching Bernard at at the right time.

And like a prophet, I predicted that Dawson would not stay with Steward.

It really didn't take any real insight. One just had to remember that Manny Steward ruins fighters that are not giants in their division like Lewis and the Klitschko brothers.

Hearns was a giant in the WW division.

Steward has little to no success with any fighter that isn't taller than his opposition.

Why?

Because all Manny offers is to heavily rely on the jab and hug once an opponent gets passed it.

How dare a guy wants to go back to his roots and NOT want to be with a "fixer upper" trainer.

Stewart is overrated. Yeah I said it. Stewart reared two fighters to championships. When I say rear, I mean developed and guided. Those fighters were Thomas/Tommy Hearns and Hilmer Kenty.

What Manny has done since then with a few exceptions (Pryor, Chavez, Camacho, Dela Hoya) is take already developed fighters and either fix what he think is broken or ride with them. Holyfield, Lewis, Klichko, etc.

We've all seen what Andy Lee has turned out to be (a guy whom he's taken on and while he didn't develop him in the amateurs, he has been with him the bulk of his professional career).

Chad wanting to go where he's comfortable doesn't hinder him one bit. It's amazing what one POINTs loss (when he was about to floor the guy) will do and sway people.

The one style Bernard Hopkins has problems with is speedy guys with good boxing pedigree. It goes back to Roy Jones I, Jermain Taylor and Calzaghe.

As long as Dawson stays active, his speed can swarm Bernard into a shell. We've seen it happen and I'm not saying Bernard lost all those fights (although the record indicates he did). But whats evident is speed from good boxers gives him problems.

Pascal who is a speedy fighter doesn't count because he's an "average" boxer if not poor (style wise). Bernard can/did nullify that with balance, positioning and well timed punches.

All Chad needs to do is stay busy and in position and he'll pull off a win.

I agree with almost everything you said here. Steward is overrated. I don't know why it's a common assumption that because a trainer has success in the past he will duplicate that success with every fighter he works with after that. Steward definitely has not. I didn't see any major improvement in Chad against Diaconu nor did I see any improvement in Cotto. All I saw was a difference in fight plan philosophy.
