Wow if I never knew boxing and only read these comments, I would think that Chad is just a scrub, pug type of fighter.

I do agree he's switched trainers too much but most people forget, Scully has trained him before. If Bernard can't "lull" and land his right. Then he's not going to do much. The guys he's fought lately, "Pavlik too slow", "Pascal too unskilled", are not Dawson. Don't get me wrong, I like Hopkins (you know how it is, if you're critical of a boxer, you're a "HATER" or don't like him nowadays) and still think he's an elite level boxer. But Hopkins has to out punch Dawson to get the win.

Dawson KNOWS that lack of activity caused him that points loss to Pascal and I doubt he's gonna let Hopkins get a jump on him with right hand leads. Pascal had conditioning issues combined with wanting to SLUG too much.

If Dawson sets the pace and watches for Nard's right hand counters, he'll easily have a points win.

Then Hopkins and Toney can hopefully get it on in the seniors tourney..

Freddie Roach and Robert Garcia off the top of my head.

Steward is a hall of fame trainer but THESE DAYS he doesn't do much. Back in the day he would be in the gym all the time and help develop guys into great fighters, like tommy hearns etc. now days because he's old and has other work (commentating) he's like a part time trainer. He typically takes guys who already are stars or know how to fight and he basically just fine tunes them, like cotto, dawson, kermit cintron (a few years back), etc. He has his main fighter, Wlad, and then the other guys he just helps out basically during training camp, whereas guys like Roach & Garcia they are in the gym every single day working with young kids to elite fighters, that is their entire life they are 100% dedicated to training and little else.

Scully is good for Dawson, and is a poster here. I'm much more confident in Chad Dawson beating Hopkins now. Stewards a great trainer, but probably not the right fit for Dawson.

Leaving Stewart was a big mistake,he went to having a 40% chance of victory down to 30% imo..Stewart is just the aggressive trainer that he needed for the task at hand, not to mention Stewart knows B-Hop pretty well and is great at making game plans..Dumb move imo...

I agree with every word in ya post, but Dawson will need a trainer with experience for his fight with B-Hop..Not only is he fighting a great fighter with tons of experience, but a trainer(Bro Naz)with tons of experience and knowledge of the game..I think leaving Stewart was a bad decision...

Robert Garcia a better trainer than Steward? Are you on crack?

And people say Steward is overrated because he only brought two fighters from the amateurs to a world title but Roach has never done it. Most fighters Roach has trained were already world champ when they came to him (Pac, Toney, Tyson, Oscar, Hopkins, Linares).

It's not about how much time they spend in the gym, it's about what they accomplished.

It's also about grooming talent and bring it along, which is something Stewart has done that Roach has not..
