Hell yes, do I think that is a completely different situation, you have no reason whatsoever to admire Miguel Cotto, apart from the obvious of course.

Cotto flatly refused Pacquiao's catch-weight demand, he said "147 if you want my title, but no-title if you need a catchweight". Of course, Manny demanded a catchweight and the title, it became a major sticking point that bought negotiations to a halt, so Cotto was forced to concede.

Manny actually demanded 143, even though his trainer Freddie Roach agreed to 144..... lucky for Miguel that he stuck to his guns, or those cherry-picking ****s would have dragged him down to 143lbs.....

That was a b1tch move, worse than Mayflowers b1tch-move with Marquez.

There was no need whatsoever for that catch-weight because Pac had already fought at 147, and he ended up fighting for a JMW title.

Cotto was well-faded, shopworn, and had just been battered by Margarito and Clottey..... he had slipped, he was not on top of his game, and he was vulnerable and ripe-for-the-picking.

Manny dragged Cotto down in an attempt to disadvantage him, and he is dragging the midget Marquez UP for the exact same reason.

As I said, that is unjustifiable in my opinion.

Well, it would be more comfortable for BOTH guys if that bout was held at JWW, Manny's best fighting weight.....

Remember, a catch-weight is supposed to be middle-ground, it is supposed to produce a fairer contest..... so why the *** are they fighting at welter if Pac is a natural JWW and Marquez is a lightweight?

If that fight was held at JWW, Manny wouldnt need to eat 6 meals a day including 3am/6am shakes just to remain at welter

Doug Fischer, a Pacquiao fan, knows whats up.....

" However, this fight only makes sense to me if it takes place at junior welterweight (and I would hope Marquez would weigh-in under 140 pounds). Why Pacquiao and company refuse to even consider fighting Marquez at 140 pounds (instead of the 144 or 147 they stipulate) is a very good question. The answer is obvious: they want every conceivable advantage against their aging but still-dangerous nemesis ".....

Sure he deserves the payday, but he also deserves to be treated with more respect, and he deserves not to be disadvantaged on the scales, again.

Actually, they are showing him the ultimate respect, and I saw the 2008 rematch, so I know why.

I am sick and tired of Pacquiao's weight games and contractual manipulations. A great fighter wins in the ring, not on the scales.

Thats because I lose it sometimes

But the hate thing, is a cheap duck, plain and simple.

Hate is worthless, and can be easily discredited with facts and logical reasoning, just like I do. The " hate " card ("you are just a hater")..... is a cheap duck by someone who is out-of-his-depth.

Appreciate the back and forth, and, your advice is noted

Could be 141 and be a WW title fight , Pac likes to flip flop to suit himself dont he , Margo did not have a 150 belt didnt matter that Pac ducked Foreman the legit WC to fight for a bull**** Claytons 150 version of a 154 title ,,,,

Why duck Mosley at 142 saying he is too good , only to fight him at 147 after looking shot ,,,

why CW Cotto the WC and fight in house Clotty at 147 , because he was payed to not try so Josh sparred his way to a well paid long service send off . .

Pac and his CWs , its just a sneaky way of handicapping the opponent is what it is .

I see the point went over your head like a spaceship , JMM is being handicapped that is the reality of the fight at this weight , so I think Roach feels he has the upper hand and can do some crowing about KOs , I bet you he would not be saying nothing but a KO will do if the fight was anything 140 or under ,,,, *******s are so gullible .

i got your point with that weight issue, for me it's just a minor issue because jmm is already working on that weight issue with the help of an expert. it's just normal that jmm should adjust to the situation to be more competitive. 'am expecting that this will be a good fight, jmm will do his homework for this fight. still anything can happen in boxing, whoever commits mistake will gonna pay the price..

                keep on punching, bro...

Good point, but I was not referring to the fact that Marquez will walk into a clear mismatch, or that he will endeavor to prepare himself well..... just that this is the latest in a long line of manipulated advantages by that hype-job Pacquiao..... 140 would have been a much fairer contest, and a much easier weight for Pacquiao to make as he would not require 6 meals a day and 3am/6am shakes just to remain at welter.

I just cant work out why a truly great fighter would do something like that ?

Like Doug Fisher, a Pacquiao fan, said.....

" they just want every advantage over their aging but still dangerous nemesis ".

Roach wants Pacquiao to erase any and all doubts by scoring a knockout victory. They fought to a draw in 2004 and Pacquiao won a controversial twelve round split decision in 2008. On November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, they clash for a third time at a catch-weight of 144-pounds.

In retrospect, I wonder if Roach regrets the words he uttered in this article.

                      Oh the irony.
