up in weight was to duck guys like Donaire.

I wasn't around that time, no where near, but I can still respect them seeing how boxing is now and how it was then. Don't care if the fighters from now are better and more well-nutritioned, the golden age boxers are much much tougher in every way. 15 rounds, 8 weight classes, 1 belt. Just crazy.

I agree that the old-timers were a hardier bunch. (Don't forget that they wore smaller gloves, too!) But eight pounds in the lighter weight classes is actually a good deal of weight. We're talking eight solid pounds. That's a big deal when you're going from 118 to 126. I weigh almost 200 lbs and I notice when I've put on five pounds of fat. A world-class boxer like Donaire is competing on an edge. He should move up gradually to allow his body to adapt to the change.

I like Donaire, but if I was him, i would focus on that 118 lbs division and try to clean that division out, don't like a few clueless fans and a few media people pump your head up and commit Career Suicide by taking on more then you can handle
Gamboa at 126 right now would kill him IMO, but if he works his way up and take a few fights at 122 then 126 then who knows, but if he just jumps to 126...that fight won't even be close
Donaire should focus on cleaning out that 118 division starting with the Winner of Mares vs Agbeko II
