But in the weeks leading up to the fight, there was a lot of discussion regarding a 2012 super-fight with Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18KOs), who currently holds the WBO/WBC bantamweight titles. Donaire plans to move up to 122-pounds after his October defense against Omar Narvaez.

For Gamboa's sake, I'd rather he not move up before this fight with Donaire happens. He'll be at least thirty by then. At that age, to have to move down after you've become accustomed to fighting at 130, it becomes more difficult to drain down. Obviously, Yuri's having enough trouble as it is to stay at 126. Making this fight happen will put more stress on Gamboa than Donaire, IMO.

If this fight happens at the end of 2012 Donaire can squeeze in 3 more fights he can do one at 122 and two at 126. Its not a stretch and its worth the risk. The winner of this fight particularly if its by KO is certainly top 3 p4p and IMO the best all around boxer in the game period.

FAAAACK ALL THIS NOISE!! All you doniare nut huggers are always bumping your gums how he's the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson and pound-for-pound this, pound-4-pound that!!! Now there are morons here saying he should wait, he's not ready etc. Lame! If he's rated pound for pound he should fight anyone in his path that makes any sense. This fight makes sense.

Sounds good but its just a fantasy fight at this point. I doubt Arum makes this fight for another year or two even if these two can agree upon a weight to fight at.

Donaire beat Montiel on spectacular knockout and beat Darc in 2007. In between he did what to make him a p4p? Oh thats right...NOTHING!!!! But hey lets build him up like he did something.

Donaire would KO Gamboa. Donaire got skill forreal. Gamboa is good but it is too easy to get to his chin. Would definitely bet on Donaire if the fight gets made.

                      i doubt donaire's one-shot power carries up to 126.

                      legs too skinny.

torito gave donaire all he could handle

                      gamboa brutalizes him
