Thomas Hearns Backs Mayweather to beat Pacquiao

All-time great backs ‘Money’ over ‘Pacman’

Five-weight world title holder Thomas ‘Hitman’ Hearns has backed Floyd Mayweather Jr. to prevail in a close battle if he should ever share the ring with rival and WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

The 52 year-old, who held titles from welterweight to cruiserweight in a glittering career, was speaking to Lem Satterfield of The Ring ****zines webstie ******.com and although he thinks both fighters are well matched, sees Mayweather coming out on top.

"I would say that it would be an awesome fight between the both of them, but I think that Floyd should win the fight. If Floyd does what he's supposed to do, then I think Floyd wins,” said Hearns.

"If he doesn't, then Pacquiao will take over the fight. Manny Pacquiao comes to fight. That's all that he wants to do. But I think that the only way that Pacquiao could win is by knockout of Floyd.

"The way that Floyd is going to win is to out-box Manny Pacquiao and to make Manny Pacquiao fall apart."

Mayweather, 34, and 32 year-old Pacquiao are thought to have ironed out the past problems for a potential super-fight between the pair at welterweight and it is hoped that a deal can be reached to get both fighters in the same ring in 2012.

For the faqqot that requested a link.

I think one of the most exciting things about this fight is that it really could go either way. I'd want Pacquiao to win, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Doesnt take an expert to know this nor does he need validation.

Pacquiao fans even know this they try to convince themselves.

Now I wonder if someones gonna ask what Hearns "knows about boxing"

Like they did with Foreman when he dared raise a question about Wlad

Hagler said Pacquiao would win, these are opinions if they fight then we'll really know who is better.

                Someone told Duran that?

Sorry, couldn't resist. But the idea that because someone is a better boxer it makes their opinion 'better' is ridiculous.

Duran's chin voted for Hearns in the poll.
