What I've never understood very well, is a point Floyd made himself about the black fan base as it relates to himself and the Filipino fan base as it relates to Paquiao. Filipinos have a deep and sincere pride when it comes to Manny Pacquiao, they may not be boxing fans but they still have respect for what he's been able to accomplish. While "blacks" as it relates to Floyd Mayweather have a much more mixed reaction, almost visceral in nature. Some in the black community seem to almost despise Mayweather's success even though he's been able to rise to almost unparalleled heights, and it doesn't just end with Mayweather, other black athletes are derided by some in the black community for nothing more than being successful. I don't get this logic but it fits with a community that is self-destructive and envious of some of its most successful members.
I'm not saying blacks can't criticizes blacks, they can, but when uneducated commentary flows out of the mouths of the likes of Michael Irvin, "hater" comes to mind.
