I think Arum is trying to motivate Ortiz on this one. After all Ortiz hates Arum with a passion and will no doubt be looking to silence the critics again against Mayweather. Hopefully, the "possessed" Victor will show up against Mayweather to make an interesting fight. Maybe even do further damage to Floyd's ribs which will benefit Pacquaio, if the fight ever takes place.

Bob Arum is the worst promoter in terms of talking boxing. GBP is getting their fighter a fight he can't work even for his best guy. They don't milk titles like he is trying to do with chavez. Old man needs to stop lining his pockets and make real fights.

This just reminded me of what Arum said days before the announcement of the fight.

I asked Arum about persistent rumors about a Sept. 17 Vicious Victor Ortiz-Floyd Mayweather fight will take place.

“I had 11 years with Floyd and I say that fight won’t happen. For 11 years, I had problems getting him to consider a southpaw opponent. He refused to consider any southpaw except one and that was when he fought Zab Judah.”

(Mayweather also fought and beat lefthanders Chop Chop Corley and Sharmba Mitchell but, if memory serves, this was after Floyd split the sheets with Top Rank.)

It's funny that the Lawsuit drops and Floyd returns.

ODH & PBH were dropped from the defamation Lawsuit after a public apology and classified settlements. I'm guessing the surrender of GBP promotional right to Pacquiao - who knows???. The Mayweathers were not dropped and are now the main protagonist of the Lawsuit. Floyd returning to the ring is a matter of financial necessity. Floyd really has no choice but to make enough income to settle the pending criminal and civil Lawsuits.
