AA was able to jab ward affectively early on he's just to slow to land any 1-2s clean. Froch is taller longer and can box/brawl as well that's a toss up. Ward fought pretty good though not a ton of his ususal headholdhit resembled a true boxer/puncher

Interesting to see 2 different opinons on Ward.

Of course, the othjer variable is AA. And I thought he did well the first couple of rounds. However we may have seen the reason for his "style." It seems like after a few rounds he has both general stamina problems and cramping arms. Thus he feels the only way for him to get to the 12th intact, is to go peekaboo and not throw many punches.

So it appears that Ward was in there with a limited fighter, and will likely have a much tougher time against whoever he will fight in the final, and perhaps with Bute too if that ever happens.

Good win, but against a limited SMW.

Good point, I don't think AA could maintain that high output style for 12 round, he couldn't even do it for 4.


I think Froch has the beating of Ward, just hope he doesn't get robbed.

Ward seems to be the golden boy of American boxing at the moment and some of the score cards with the fights he has been in have been a joke.

still complaining about the headbutts i see...the headbutts that all occured in the latter half of the fight and had nothing to do with the domination of kessler for 6 rnds

Ward is very skilled But he has to push for KO's cuz idk he gets boring after a while!!! AHAHAHA and ima big fan of hes ... idk maybe he was a better puncher at MW but at SMW he is not..Maybe cuz guys can absorb a shot better at 168 but Ward is a preety big 168'r ..Idk if he does want to create ecxitment around him then he has to push for the KO cuz if he doesnt people will not i mean will not watch him fight not that hes not good cuz he is GREAT but he cant finish fights hopefully KO's in future fights

Could this be one reason for his stamina problems? I thought Ward should have gone almost exclusively to the body, till AA folded, but he stopped after a while. But by the 6th AA looked done, and was all shelled up.

Is that all it takes to take the wind out off AA--a few good body shots?

Anyway, again a decent win over a very limited SMW. Gonna be very different against Froch or Johnson. If Froch and in the UK, I might just bet for Froch, he's grown on me.

It lucky that Ward's Dad was the ref and his mother and brother were the judges.

Ward should have been DQ.

Can you explain how the ref scored them accidental.

Could be a great one between Froch and Johnson. If a few years earlier, Johnson all the way. But Johnson in some of his recent fights has begun to show the age I think, so the edge may be to Froch--with the addition of his new found skills as well as his toughness from before.
