If Manny had fought Berto last year or May 7.. and destroyed him. We'd still be hearing from a certain fanbase how Berto was green/lacks skill... and hasn't face any elite fighters in his career prior to facing Pacquiao.
I was hoping Manny would fight Berto.. so he'd take his 0.
Ortiz said that Manny had told him.. that Ortiz is faster than Berto and stronger than Berto. That shows how much respect Pacquiao had for Berto as a fighter..

The truth is that Pac will always have his detractors no matter who he selects to fight next, as long as its not FMJ. But the fact is that, although he still has 5-6 bouts left in him, Pac can only fight one opponent at a time. So, every 'deserving' contender needs to just wait for his turn and keep winning. If they lose in the interim, like Berto did, then that's their fault. Don't blame Pac for not selecting them first.
Here are the most likely opponents for Pac in the future:
Mosley
JMM
Bradley
Berto
Cintron
Ortiz
Martinez
Cotto rematch
It shouldn't really matter in what order Pac faces them all, as long as he eventually does. So, let's just be grateful that the Pacquiao show is still in town.Last edited by empiricix; 04-17-2011, 12:39 PM.

In the end Manny still shouldnt have fought Margarito, a guy that wasn't even ranked, a guy that had no chance, a guy that moves around the ring about the same speed as my grandmother.
He still should have fought a YOUNG, up & commer, fast, powerful guy, he might fight him now though because Berto has been exposed, so Pac will be back to fighting guys who come off a loss

There are really are no other possible worthy opponents aside from those that I listed, aren't there? And all of them can get their turn with Pac as long as they keep winning. Had Berto won the fight in impressive fashion, then he would've been right after JMM in the pecking list. The problem is he lost, so he goes the back of the line to rebuild himself.
Not Pac's fault.

To say that Cotto, Clottey and Margarito are cherry pick fights is just too damn idiotic to stomach. I can't imagine Floyd cherry picking these guys let alone Berto even at this stage of their careers. That's all I've been saying. But some damn idiots are just too caught up with silly technicalities which means nothing in the ring.
