let's face facts... most blacks don't need or want boxing anymore.

most blacks (not all) can name 4-6 black boxers and most of those names will be from over a decade ago.

Mayweather on the other hand self promoted HIMSELF and was able to get the attention of his people, he became close friends with 50 Cent and 50 Cent Crowd/Fans (a guy who has over 4 Million People Following Him On Twitter By The Way) became more interested in Mayweather, putting 50 Cent on HBO 24/7 with him was GENIUS because it got the Hip Hop Communities ATTENTION and lets be honest, the most Powerful Influence for many Black Americans is HIP HOP ARTIST and they don't just INFLUENCE BLACKS, they also INFLUENCE many other Cultures and Race Of People, what ever they are Wearing, Driving, Doing, people are going to COPY IT, Andre Berto is starting place himself in that Hip Hop Community which I think is GENIUS and will pay off for him in the LONG RUN (As long as he keeps winning OF COURSE)

So it seems to me that it is not about Blacks not supporting their own, its seems to me that they are not being pursued because people are just going off of ASSUMPTIONS that: "Economy Is Bad They Can't Afford It" "They Are Not Interested In Boxing Because Black Fighters Are Not On Top" all of these comments I see are nothing more then ASSUMPTIONS and hold NO FACT TO THEM

not only that but look at the Promoters these guys sign with, how in the *** would GBP (Oscar De La Hoya), DiBella, Gary Shaw, Bob Arum, they don't know how to SELL A FIGHT to Black Folks, Don King does though, but with him being such a BIG CROOK nobody wants to deal with him, but he is doing a better job with Devon Alexander then Gary Shaw is doing with Timothy Bradley, unfortunately for him Devon Alexander is not ready SKILL WISE...I HAVE A GREAT SOLUTION, HOW ABOUT FINDING A New, Young, Charismatic Black Promoter In Boxing To Help Promote These Black Fighters!!!

Bottom Line, it is a Black American Following out their just waiting for someone to catch their attention like Tyson and Mayweather was able to do, even Roy Jones, but it is not just going to come to you simply because your "BLACK", you have to go get them and BRING THEM BACK TO BOXING!
Well what you said was exactly the point. People always say "Do it in the ring" but that only worked for a few of the worlds best black boxers. Peterson is a damn good fighter, not average. Most fighters of other races can depend on their promoters. Black people expect the extra from black fighters. Floyd shouldnt have had to do all those things to get his just due. Look at Malkignaggi average at best but ended up in some of the biggest fights. Look at Jccjr, done absolutely nothing of note except be Jr.. Floyd's the son and nephew of 2 world class boxers. Look at Canelo, he's young and I like to watch him but his check is prolly something to be envied by more skilled fighters and it was all promotion. DLH jumped out of the Olympics making bank. Andre Ward won a gold metal and cant even get his just from the "hardcore" fans of any race. I kinda see a pattern myself. The list goes on trust me. Im just tired of typing.

they having the opportunity to make a change and not doing nothing to help others is the main reason they do not appeal that much or doesnt get their own ppl support.
Its a lot that can do more I'm sure. But its still plenty of "****** superstars" that do their part. How can a boxer that aint eatin give back. He's fighting to maintain a decent lifestyle. Whats a trip is the richest percentage aint the ****** superstars. Black people still support the Tiger "Im not black" Woods and Micheal "*** yall" Jordan's of the world who never have anything to give back (and not just money but influence), so maybe a couple of boxers speaking up about it might trigger something with a little PROMOTIONAL HELP.

This is the Dumbest **** I have ever heard Peterson Say. I am a black fight-fan and I don't see it this way at all. When someone is good and they perform, then the public (no matter the race) will fall behind that fighter and become a fan or show support. I don't believe that one race should show all their support to another fighter just because they are the same race. The reason I love boxing so much is because everyone is an individual and what other sport can you have a crowd hate someone in the beginning and after they win the crowd loves them. Manny and Floyd have gotten their recognition for fights... same with all the other greats from other countries. Peterson has been performing poorly and so has many other Black fighters right now and that is the reason for low fan base...Not the race...

Now, we can move on over the the NBA and NFL and see Blacks dominating those sports,

and they have the support of Black fans.

Take away the domination factor, and the fans flee.

Look at how many Black people became interested in tennis and golf once a Black was dominating those sports.
black is not exclusively for AMERICAN BLACKS OR AFRICAN AMERICANS black is to vague of a term..bottom line black(american) boxers cannot rely on american black fans alone. they have to rely on its nationality and thats BEING A AMERICAN CHAMPION...as i said americans are the most weirdest boxing fans ever

still when you look at it, fighters from latin america even europe still have the support of their base based on NATIONALISTIC(COUNTRY) IDENTITY period...

most filipinos will go for manny even if you erase of the BS that has been going on these few years...

Americans will not be 100% behind the fighter...

Floyd's an "ok" fighter and he aint gettin it. If you notice, on the boards and with casual fans we're the only race that does it that way. The truth is most white fans stand behind their Malignaggi's and Andy Lee's. Peterson is better than them both.
