I wouldn't mind seeing Ishida receive a decent HBO payday fighting Martinez. He's earned it.
If HBO's Davis and Greenburg were smart, which they are not, they'd make it a doubleheader and have something like Pirog-Lee or Golovkin-Williams on as well.
What is the big difference between this and Pirog? Pirog had one decent win against a prospect in Danny Jacobs and everyone wanted to see him face Martinez, why is there such a huge difference in reactons with Ishida?
By the way, James Kirkland > Danny Jacobs, in my opinion
Pirog holds and has defended a title at middleweight, where Martinez is the champ. He's also not a journeyman.
Pirog was already a prospect before beating Jacobs. Ishida is a journeyman who destroyed someone who obviously can't take a punch post prison layoff. Give Ishida a nice fight like Manfredo on ESPN or something.
I like it. This serves as a wake up call to my man JKirk. He's fighting bums, while the bums who knocked him out, is getting a shot at Sergio. Love it.
