Man that's unfortunate.. I hate hearing **** like this, especially about legends, and especially about Roy Jones, and even more that he has to keep fighting when no way in hell he should be.

So if Roy fought in New York which he did in those yrs and LA the next time and commentated 3 fights in 3 different states. He has to pay taxes for each one of those states. Thats what people don't realize about sports figures. As an accountant I kow that its hard to keep track of. All those baseball, basketball, football, and other sports guys. Whatever city they play in within that year they have to pay Taxes for because in reality they worked in that state.

What is with these guys essentially spending money they earn, before they actually are supposed to?
If Roy makes 1M theoretically from a fight, assuming he fights once a year and makes no other income, he needs to set aside roughly 327K and keep that in storing to pay his taxes. Then he pays out the rest. I mean a smart accountant would lower his taxable income, by insuring that he pays his trainer first, the promoter gets a cut, the equipment he purchases come off the top, he makes a charitable donation, mortgage interest deduction and so forth and so on to lessen that bill, but the point is, once they get that check, all this **** should be handled and stored away for the tax man, then spend their money.
