Berto was willing to fight Pacquiao for cheap, plus he was signed to fight Shane Mosley so it's obvious that he's not ducking anyone.

As for the 50/50 thing: after Shane lost to Mayweather it stands to reason that Berto wanted better terms than the first time they were going to fight.

Your logic makes no sense,so because Mosley lost to May(who many think is the best fighter in the sport)and had the biggest PPV of that yr Berto now deserves more money??Is this what ya saying really??

Yes. Do you think Shane can demand the same terms coming off a loss that he demanded coming off of the Margarito win?

Yes and here are a few reasons why..Both the May and Margas fights were very big gates, and one was a big PPV..Both Margas and May are consider top level WW..Mosley is a future HOF fighter aand a win over him would have done wonders for Bertos career..

Name some reasons why he deserved 50/50,can't say cause he's undefeated he has not fought anyone of merit yet so his record does not mean spit..Can't say cause he is a Champ who did he beat for that belt again,oh yea Ricky Martin..Not to mention he did not beat a real Champ who held the belt..So those arguments are weak,so what reason does he deserve 50/50??

I wouldn't be shocked if Berto jumps on Ortiz and finish the night much earlier then people think, everybody is thinking "GOOD FIGHT" but I see it playing out like FERNANDO VARGAS vs Shane Mosley, I think Berto hand speed will be WAY TOO MUCH for Ortiz

think about it...Peterson was landing that Counter Right at will and even Maidana had no problems landing on Ortiz...and we all know Maidana is NOT THAT FAST

Willl be interesting to see if Ortiz can weather Berto's STORM early and try to get him tired and catch him with something big late in the fight because to me that is his best chance, if he scores the KO or he loses via UD

LOL I understand the "HATE" for Berto but for a realistic standpoint I wouldn't be shocked if this fight was a complete mismatch...I think Berto is much better then people give him credit for, unfortunately for him he can't land a big fight...but it is not like he had turned down big fights either, he has called Mosley, Cotto, Pacquiao and others out but nobody wants to fight him

I think it has more to do with dealing with his hand speed and people see him more at a threat more then anything

i think this is an easy fight for berto as well.

berto brings it all on himself though, you say he can't get big fights, so instead of proving himself he fights 140lbers and freddy hernandez.

he had a fight with mosley, he pulled out. that's a turn down.

Well he pulled out because of the tragedy in Hati, I wouldn't consider that a "TURN DOWN"

Yes I think Berto ALLOWED TO THE HATE TO BUILD UP AGAINST HIM! Not rematching Collazo started a lot of the hate against him

Not rematching Collazo def started the hate for me,I gave him a pass for pulling out of the Mosley fight..But not taking the bout with Mosley after the May fight sealed the deal, and him not fighting Cintron who flat out violated him pushed him over the edge..

So what has Berto done to ask for 50/50??Mosley just came off the biggest PPV of the yr where he lost to arguable the best fighter in the world, what did Berto do to earn a 50/50 fight??Anybody??
Oh, are we still talking about Berto's withdrawal from the Mosley bout because of the Haiti disaster? If so, then imho you cannot fairly call that a duck because family and emotions are involved, and neither you nor I are in a position to make a truly accurate assessment on that.

It seems far more likely that the withdrawal was genuine when you consider the alternative..... that Berto happily signed to fight Mosley, but then for some reason suddenly got cold feet, and saw the disaster as an opportunity to duck Mosley by cancelling the bout.

Because we cannot categorically prove that Berto was in a fit mental state to continue his preparation for that fight, and because it does seem a rather unlikely scenario - why would Berto initially sign the contract if he wanted no part of Shane? - I would prefer to give Berto the benefit of the doubt in light of the fact that he did lose family members.

The main point is..... regardless as to whether Berto ducked Shane or not, that is not the same Mosley that Pac will be fighting in May 2011.

I have a sneaky su****ion that you could be right, I hope not man, I wanna see Ortiz put on a real together performance, win-or-lose..... but I think you could be right with that prediction.
