In Germany it is customary to swim nude. Nude photos of men posing as the athletes of ancient Greece -- who competed nude in the Olympics -- do not incite hysterical "this is gay" reactions there. Everyone understands that there is no shame in nudity, just like the ancient Greeks understood it.

I wonder though why these pics make you so histerical.

The fact that this thread has taken a page out of the Bill Orielly/Howard Dean political manual tells me this thread needs to just be left alone. Another Wladimir’s evening training just ended. Wladimir, Emanuel and his sparring partners share jokes and laugh. As Wladimir decided on tomorrow’s meeting with journalist we patiently await our turn. Once Wladimir is finished we speak to him about his training and other things.


Wladimir, how’s your training?
My preparation has entered final stage. By the end of this week I will carry out thirty more rounds of sparring. I feel wonderful with my training camp and my trainer. We have worked a lot and you’ll see our results on September 24th when I face Peter.

Do you like your new camp where you have been preparing for this fight?
A fine place. Fresh air, mountains, calmness and tranquility. Here there’s everything you need to prepare for a fight. Plus, other great boxers have prepared here, Mohammed Ali, Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis and many more. And just twenty minutes from here lives a former world champion Larry Holmes.

Has this place become like a home to you?
Certainly, my training hall has become like that since I spend most part of my day there.

And what do you do once you finish your training?
Special entertainments are not present here, therefore my free time is devoted to preparation for this upcoming fight. Together with my trainer Emanuel Steward we look through tapes of Peter Samuel, analyze his possible strategy in a fight with me and rest.

And how do you rest?
I go on walks, listen to music, read books and work on my English language. I do everything to rest after training and to be ready for a new one.

Emanuel told us that your training consists of many new things?
I’m not going to tell you all secrets. But my training really does differ from past ones. I have carried out already more than one hundred and ten rounds of sparring. Besides the whole approach to training is a bit different than before.

Wladimir, is mental preparation for a duel with Peter just as important as physical?
My mental preparation for a fight has not changed. I’m concentrated on the upcoming fight and will be ready both physically and mentally.

Emanuel in his interview has told us that he’s afraid that you can overtrain. Are you concerned?
Such problem always exists. Training is a very serious process since you have to avoid undertraining and overtraining. I’m confident that we have found that middle which will allow me to be in top physical and psychological form.

Wladimir is Peter really as dangerous and frightening as boxing media speaks of him?
I think that after our fight I can answer this question more precisely.

What can you tell us about your opponent’s strong and weak sides?
Peter’s strength is not a secret to anyone. He is physically strong athlete, is very confident and hasn’t lost a single fight. He knockout his opponents. His weak sides I don’t want to talk about. If he lacks anything we’ll find out on September 24th.

Wladimir, your training hall is full of TV’s constantly playing Peter’s fights. Why such respect for your opponent?
It’s a professional approach in preparation for important fight. Knowing your opponent and analyzing his actions is one of the most important components of any preparation.

Wladimir, as far as we can tell, quantity of your sparring partners is sufficient. But are you satisfied with their professional qualities?
As of today, twelve sparring partners have prepared with me. I’m completely satisfied with how these guys work. Their styles of fighting remind me a lot of Peter’s style. All guys are young and upcoming fighters that have about fifteen to twenty pro fights. They are very vigorous and are seriously concern with their job. It’s hard for me to call them sparring partners, since they not only collect money but are real fighters getting ready for their fights, thus our sparring becomes real fight.

Are you concerned that many in mass media consider you as underdog and with confidence predict your loss?
I think that the best answer to all my skeptics will take place inside the ring.

Wladimir, some say that this fight will turn into chess match with boxing gloves. In your opinion what will the fight be like?
Every fight is a chess match. Well you can compare boxing as a whole to chess. And our chess match in this fight is not in its last move.

Wladimir, people around the world are going to support you in this fight. What can you tell them?
I want to thank them that they support me, either by coming to a match or watching by a TV. I’m confident that on September 24th you’ll see one of my best fights.
