I saw highlights of Dzinziruk on Youtube and was honestly never impressed with the guy. I basically knew he wasn't all that good. I'm not trying to go out of my way to discredit Sergio's win, but people need to face the facts. The guy's best wins to date were against an old Daniel Santos and Joel Julio (Who Kirkland, Angulo, and even Quintana for crying out loud beat more impressively).

Now having said all this, I for the life of me can't understand why he was shoved down our throats by HBO as a worthy opponent for Sergio Martinez. You look at the Middleweight landscape right now, and there are plenty of good fighters (European or not) that would've been a tougher challenge. The ones off the top of my head are Golovkin, Pirog, and then you have Kirkland and Fernando Guerrero. I know the latter two need some more fights. But why isn't HBO trying to match Sergio up with those other two guys? And WTF is this shit of Martinez calling out guys like Cotto, Floyd, and Pac? People also need to raise issue with that too.

Ur dumb, Dzinzurik was a game fighter he had pretty good skills. And WTF are you talking about robbing the fans for money....this was on HBO and the Cotto fought Mayorga on PPV, now that's a rip off. Im glad this fight happened and it was entertaining non the less. Paul Williams got rocked in two rounds, Pavlik destroyed and Dzinzurik lasted an put up a good effort in a losing battle. If you didn't enjoy this go watch MMA were 2 guys that are 10-4 are fighting for a title

HBO promised Dzinziruk a return fight win or lose according to Fat Dan.

I'd like to see Dzinziruk-Martirosyan, end the Vanes hype for good.

Vanes is another example. I've heard about this guy for years, but he has nothing on his resume aside from a win over a shot Ouma, who many people felt won. Now I've heard Vanes call out Cotto and some other guys, so that is at least a little better than most of the guys we've been talking about. But my God, if we have been hearing about you for more than 2 years and you have accomplished nothing (i.e., Andre Berto), then you are a clown.

In my book, most of the guys we're talking about are no more respectable than JCC Jr. He's a name because of his dad, he's got a BS title belt he should never have had a shot at, and he's undefeated because he fights no one. That's boxing in a nutshell today.

And to the guy criticizing MMA, I agree with you. MMA is basically the heavyweight division of boxing right now where guys get 3 and 4 title shots just because they are a name from the last 5-6 guys or even later than that. No way did Hasim Rahman belong in the same ring as Wladimir, not did Shannon Briggs deserve a shot at Vitali. They are just recycling guys and spitting them out.

But by the same token, Dzinzurik had no business holding a title belt or being in the same ring as Martinez. There's just no middle ground in boxing where the best fight the best because they EARN it. That's what's killing our sport.
