This was an awesome fight. Rios is one tough guy, he deserves all the plaudits.
I'd like to see him up at 140 with Maidana!! That would be something.

He was getting outboxed by Acosta, but Acosta lacked the stamina, had no legs later in the fighter, and his punches had no power behind them.
He's still a one dimensional brawler, with good power, with a good chin, and no defense.
Garcia and Arum should keep Rios away from someone like JMM because JMM will pick him apart if JMM can take Rios' power. JMM will land any punch he wants on Rios because has no defense with no head movement.

Give him a little more credit than that. Could we at least say that he's brawler with some skill.
I don't see to many (exclusively) brawlers putting together short, accurate, combinations like Rios did on occasion. He's no defensive wizard (but how many boxers are?) but he did do pretty well after getting touched up the first 4 or 5 rounds. Of, course that also could've been because he was taking the starch out of miguel.
I don't want to see that fight. And I would hope that JMM would win. But as we saw today, Rios would be able to take that punch plus JMM isn't getting any younger and does get hit with that left hook. Wonder if Rios has a good left hook...

Bam bam smash.........the man is a warrior. That fight turned around after acosta had rios beaten and backing up yet couldn't seal the deal. The next round pressure resumed and that has to take a lot out of a fighter. You hit your opponent with everything and you know you hurt him yet here he comes again and still hitting HARD.
Rios is the best at 135 right now. I didn't think so before but after that performance I have no doubts. Big ring, Fast, accurate opponent and yet he was able to take him out. Marquez is smarter and a better counter puncher but he is nowhere near as mobile or as fast as acosta is. Don't see marquez posing a problem for the rios garcia express. That train is just starting to roll............

I expect Soto to avoid him again and fight Demarco instead.
It is what it is.

All of you who use the words "one dimensional" are DumbA$$'$ !!!
You think you sound like some hotshot know it all.
Do you think Rocky Marciano was any good ? Rio's and Rocky fight the same,,both are game, neither have the slick skills , can a fighter like them make it ?????
Rocky's record : 49 fights no losses , 43 KO's
Rios UNDEFEATED
One dimensional my A$$
