This was an awesome fight. Rios is one tough guy, he deserves all the plaudits.

I'd like to see him up at 140 with Maidana!! That would be something.

He was getting outboxed by Acosta, but Acosta lacked the stamina, had no legs later in the fighter, and his punches had no power behind them.

He's still a one dimensional brawler, with good power, with a good chin, and no defense.

Garcia and Arum should keep Rios away from someone like JMM because JMM will pick him apart if JMM can take Rios' power. JMM will land any punch he wants on Rios because has no defense with no head movement.
huh?....so he lost because acosta lacked stamina and had no legs in the later rounds?..why do you think that was?? maybe rios' hard punches had something to do with it? and his constant pressure?? i saw acosta fine in his last fights, his stamina was good but now that rios really pressured him he lost, thats why he lost, who cares if he was out boxing him, rios hit harder and pressured him, this isn't a 5 round fight it's twelve and it's who does their part better and rios did, acosta is better boxer ok,but rios hits harder, better stamina and takes a punch better, for this fight those three qualities were better than acostas boxing..you can be one of the best boxers but if you can't take a good punch you'll lose, being a boxer isn't only the best quality of a fighter,i'd rather a fighter hit hard and TAKE a punch and great stamina,if he had better defense great, but i'm sure he'll work on that

Give him a little more credit than that. Could we at least say that he's brawler with some skill.
I don't see to many (exclusively) brawlers putting together short, accurate, combinations like Rios did on occasion. He's no defensive wizard (but how many boxers are?) but he did do pretty well after getting touched up the first 4 or 5 rounds. Of, course that also could've been because he was taking the starch out of miguel.

I don't want to see that fight. And I would hope that JMM would win. But as we saw today, Rios would be able to take that punch plus JMM isn't getting any younger and does get hit with that left hook. Wonder if Rios has a good left hook...
that would be the end of jmm,,,i agree marquez looks his age in every fight now,he's slower, gets hit more and rios is huge,if rios was able to take acostas' punches,he'll take marquez too and rios hits harder at lightweight than katsidis,i think it would just be rios winning not because he's better,we all know that, but he's younger, and stronger and never been in battles like marquez has, exept for this fight, marquez is at the end of his career

This is what you call pressure fighting!!! Great fight by both and hopefully we get to see them again.

Bam bam smash.........the man is a warrior. That fight turned around after acosta had rios beaten and backing up yet couldn't seal the deal. The next round pressure resumed and that has to take a lot out of a fighter. You hit your opponent with everything and you know you hurt him yet here he comes again and still hitting HARD.

Rios is the best at 135 right now. I didn't think so before but after that performance I have no doubts. Big ring, Fast, accurate opponent and yet he was able to take him out. Marquez is smarter and a better counter puncher but he is nowhere near as mobile or as fast as acosta is. Don't see marquez posing a problem for the rios garcia express. That train is just starting to roll............

"Mini-Margarito" lol good one, he does remind me of my boy Tony. What a fight that was man, so happy to see Rios completely destroy Acosta.
