Like I said before, Rios showed he has a hell of a chin & is relentless & just keeps on coming forward landing hard shots & trying to wear his opponents down(Like he just did against Acosta) & WILL give it his ALL to win!! He is a true WARRIOR!! & EARNED very well this victory against Acosta in a GREAT FIGHT... Now I never seen the IBF lightweight champ fight(Miguel Vazquez), so I can't say anything about him, but even thou Rios is 1 hell of a brawler, I don't think he could beat Juan Manuel Marquez, Marquez is Acosta TIMES 2 upgraded to the max & that would equal defeat for Rios!!! At 135lbs Rios will EAT UP Humberto Soto, Antillon, DeMarco & Guerrero & a fight against another Warrior Katsidis I see it as a toss up. but HE SHOULD definitely stay away from Marquez(& since Marquez is a Golden Boy fighter, I'm pretty sure GREEDY SENILE PARASITE Arum will just keep him away from that fight)..Now at 140lbs there's another relentless fighter named Maidana that a fight between him & Rios would be like 2 cavemen bashing their heads with clubs!! & Bradley is another force to be reckoned with which I'm pretty sure has the condition & smarts to beat Rios & even thou I'm NOT a Khan fan, I gotta say that Khan showed a lot of will & heart against Maidana(who's a lot like Rios) & I don't see Rios beating Khan & against Victor Ortiz will be very interesting, especially with the grudge there is between them..But all those would make GREAT fights against Rios just because of Rios style... But just like Marquez & Ortiz, Maidana, Guerrero are all Golden Boy fighters, so unfortunately I don't see those fights happening any time soon..

Good post man but I will argue that I think Rios is more skilled than Maidana. I think Rios was a little nervous and tenative early in the fight and got caught with a couple of very good right hands. Once he settled in, his defense got much better and one thing I really am impressed with Rios is his accuracy.

He is very accurate, especially on the inside. A fight with him and Maidana or Katsidis would be great to watch because it would take place in a phone booth.

You are right. This style is what has always given Khan problem. Bad style matchup for Khan. Would be a great fight to see

He was getting outboxed by Acosta, but Acosta lacked the stamina, had no legs later in the fighter, and his punches had no power behind them.

He's still a one dimensional brawler, with good power, with a good chin, and no defense.

Garcia and Arum should keep Rios away from someone like JMM because JMM will pick him apart if JMM can take Rios' power. JMM will land any punch he wants on Rios because has no defense with no head movement.

I think Rios might even be capable of beating everybody at 140. I was a little bit reserved on my judgement about him even though I already knew he was a good fighter. I just didn't form the kind of opinion about him being elite based on his win over Peterson because I don't really have a high opinion of Peterson. But this win over Acosta proves he's legit.

He was supposed to get outboxed by Acosta. That was a given going in. You've seen Acosta fight before?

Give him a little more credit than that. Could we at least say that he's brawler with some skill.
I don't see to many (exclusively) brawlers putting together short, accurate, combinations like Rios did on occasion. He's no defensive wizard (but how many boxers are?) but he did do pretty well after getting touched up the first 4 or 5 rounds. Of, course that also could've been because he was taking the starch out of miguel.

I don't want to see that fight. And I would hope that JMM would win. But as we saw today, Rios would be able to take that punch plus JMM isn't getting any younger and does get hit with that left hook. Wonder if Rios has a good left hook...
