Isn't this what Pac is trying to do in the welters, clean out the division? After he beats Mosley, Berto will get his turn. Then if Floyd still doesn't find his urge, Pac would've cleaned out the welterweight division.

When Roy Jones fought James Toney, Toney had already said that he was struggling to make the 168 lbs weight limit and wanted to fight at 175 lbs. Well, Roy made him fight at 168 lbs so Toney was completely weight drained. Same thing everyone who hates Pacquiao says about the Cotto fight, although that was only two pounds less than 147 lbs and Cotto fought along time at 140 lbs.
Roy Jones Jr moved up to heavyweight and cherry picked John Ruiz, the worst heavyweight belt holder in history. Same thing everyone who hates Pacquiao says about his 'junior welterweight' title fight against Margarito, that is was a cherry picked title. When Roy was in his prime at 175 lbs, he fought alot of guys but didn't fight some important ones, like Sven Ottke, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Joe Calzaghe off the top of my head. All them called Roy out and he never fought them...

At welterweight, Pacquiao has fought Cotto, Clottey and now Mosley. Next he will fight most likely JMM since everyone is demanding he fight him if Floyd is still not available. So, other than those four guys, who has Manny not fought in the top 5 at welterweight other than Andre Berto, who is ranked lower than Shane Mosley at welterweight? Only Floyd Jr. and when Manny was fighting at smaller weights, he fought Lehlohonolo Ledwaba (whom all the sports writers were high on and Manny took that fight on short notice and was set up to lose), Morales 3 times, Barrera twice, JMM twice and Ricky Hatton on his way up.

So, you can say that Roy Jones fought more competition on his rise to pound for pound, but Manny has fought the best available most of the time more often.
Jones didn't "make" Toney do anything. Toney was champion at 168 and Jones fought for his belt. If Toney was struggling he could have moved up earlier. Nobody forced him to stay there. And Toney was picking apart everybody in the division prior to the Jones fight. The weight thing is just a ready made excuse for a bad performance.

John Ruiz? He had beaten Kirk Johnson, Hasim Rahmin, Fres Oquendo and a number of top heavyweights. Margarito has never competed in the 154 pound division and has no wins over any top fighters there. So that's a ridiculous comparison. And Jones didn't fight Ruiz at a catch weight while moving up 25 pounds and giving up 30. Jones moved up two divisions to fighter Ruiz and did what many top heavyweights failed to do: Beat Ruiz. Ruiz was the weakest of the heavyweight champions(and not "the worst in history") but a dangerous fight for an average sized light heavyweight fighting in the division for the first time.

I doubt Pacquaio would want to go out like Tszyu though. I can't blame any fighter who want's to go out on top. Of course a lot of angry fans disagree.

yea...that was a rough way to go for Kostya...ugly, dirty fight in Hatton's backyard...but Kostya was highly heralded for a long time as the beast at 140...many people, this fight fan included, knew he wasn't the dominant Tszyu of years past but hoped it was enough to beat Ricky...

it was a loss but from my perspective, he was still near the top when he walked away and never came back

Micky Ward was another fighter, not as decorated, that retired and never came back

That's true. I respect the fact that he didn't come back and knew when to walk away.

                ****ing dickhead.

Hopkins, Toney, Tarver, Ruiz, Woods, McCallum, Hill, Griffin, Calzaghe, Johnson, and Harding were bums/exhibition fights?

Cotto was in his prime, Clottey was in his Prime,,,,Hatton was in his prime, ODH was NOT in his PRIME but all said it was a mismatch, Margo is in his PRIME,,, he was not in shape period when he fought Mosley during his aledged cheating,,,,Mosley KO a shell of a fighter, Pac fought Margo at his best,, all the while YORE Man Mayweather was retired ????????????? NO but actually waiting to see how all things played out,,,,,I mean come on mang , he didn't want to get mixed up in all that above he might get his nose mashed on his face. He loves to wait and see who gets the S#!T beat out of them and then claim king of the nice hill. hahaha

Listen,,see , FMJ showed himself CHICKEN to fight Cotto, Margo etc....while Little Pacman took them all on and WON.

I remember you saying he would lose from ODH ON,,,,you must be green inside by now wanting Pac to LOSE.

He might get cracked this time right on the chin and go down forever by OLD MOSLEY but at least he fought the best in his time. WHO IS LEFT?????

There is only ONE and he is hiding on Jailbird lane
All I'm saying is that Shane Mosley would have been a better win on Pac's resume than Miguel Cotto at the time. Right or wrong? Pac would have been #1 in the division but he is not after beating Cotto and Clottey. That was/is my point. Everything else you posted is worthless.

Cotto would have been the #1 WW because Cotton beaten Mosley already. Cotto had no trouble making 145 which makes sense since PAC just vacated 140 to fight at FULL WW against BIGGER, and EXPERIENCE Champion like Cotto who was a year younger. PAC gets FULL CREDIT because of the way HE DESTROYED COTTO and rip his heart out. Cotto even gave props to Pacquiao after the beat down, who say, "PAC is the best fighter he ever fought". Nobody thought PAC would have done what he did. You feel me..
