look at what happened to Meldrick Taylor after that fight with Chavez

he was beating Chavez throughout the majority of the fight but Chavez's shots were breaking him up and eventually wore him down

Taylor was literally never the same after that

not saying it would happen but how can we say that wouldn't happen to Floyd? he's never been in with anyone close to a prime Chavez imo

and no way would he toy with tito at 147 nobody toyed with trinidad at that weight and he was in with some solid comp

Mayweather would fight differently than Taylor would IMO. Mayweather would use more movement and not spend as much time on the inside exchanging. People say Taylor outboxed Chavez, but really what I saw was more of him OUTWORKING Chavez. He used some in and out, side to side movement, but a lot of his success came from his insane workrate. Chavez would land some hard clean shots, and Taylor would just throw a ton of shots and land more, even if they weren't as clean as Chavez's shots. Mayweather doesn't throw nearly as many punches as Taylor, but is much better defensively and smarter.

Regardless of who wins, I don't see Mayweather taking the type of physical beating that Taylor took.

Floyd beats both. He gets his ass handed to him by Sugar Ray though.

                  I agree on both accounts.

Tito vs. Floyd is a mismatch. Always thought that.

But he'd be the best fighter Floyd faced??? Makes no sense at all, is it is a mismatch what the hell do you call the fights Floyds been in at WW? Think before you type.

I think Dan is dead wrong. Kinda sounds like Dan is either talking out of his ass or he's just giving an opinion just for the sake of giving one.

Floyd's defense is nothing like Pernell's defense. Pernell avoided punches all together, Floyd gets hit, but just on his guard. But his head always gets tagged when he fights a fast handed fighter. Judah got him until Judah faded, Mosley was the same, and Oscar met Floyd punch for punch, completely handled Mayweather with just his jab.

Trinidad, Chavez, prime Mosley, Vernon Forrest, prime Oscar, even someone like Miguel Cotto would be far from a definite W for Floyd. I mean Floyd avoided Cotto at all costs.

I think Floyd's defense is over-rated, just in the sense that it's depicted as "untouchable." But every fighter, including Floyd, that tries to hide their head behind their shoulder are usually suckers for straight rights and jabs cause they clip the top of the head every time. Not to mention Floyd's body is there to be hit in every fight.

I think Floyd's best attributes toward his defense are his reflexes, not the fact he hides his head behind his shoulder. His reflexes are what let him move his body in time to roll a punch off his shoulder to begin with. But if he's fighting someone like Judah or Mosley or Oscar (his most recent steps up) each of them are renowned for hand speed and each of them showed success against Floyd's "defense", until they lost stamina.
