and 45 year old hopkins beat a shot roy jones who had lost 6 of his last 11 fights yes, and fresh coming down from crusierweight where he was just ko'd in the first round by danny green

tarver went 12 rounds with Montell Griffin for 2 vacant tltles how is that cleaning out a division?......

michalczweski ko Montell Griffin in 4 rounds

michalczweski lost a mouth before tarvar/jones 1 but why did jones sign to fight 35yo taver instead of a 48 and 0 Michalczewski who was the longest reigning light heavyweight champion?...........

we dont pay attention to that p4p in europe p4p is some **** made up by hbo

but...thats mostly my opinion, to be fair.
Yeah because I definitely don't agree that it took Hopkins four more years. He was an animal in the Mercado rematch and, like I said, won the first handily. Azumah had 13 fights and barely any experience at the championship level. Hopkins had worked himself up to being the #1 contender at 160 in a time when sanction body rankings still meant something. Hopkins wasn't green and Jones wasn't as bad as he looked that night neither. We just didn't know who they were then.

plz, michalczweski has a career full of contraversy
the guy was protected and wanted non of roy

he lost to a guy roy completely dominated from 1 to 12, knocking him down twice(or three times, can't remember)

and who cares, point is roy fought tarver, when tarver was the man to beat at lhw

That doesn't mean a lot does it !
James Toney was not or never was the linear 168 champ,to be so you have to face the other champs and he never !

he had wins over Barkley, Williams, Thorton and Littles though.
those were really good wins right there, not to mention his accomplishments at 160lbs.

the other top guys were Benn, Eubank and Nun...one of those he already had a win over, and I dont see how Eubank or Benn should have been higher than Toney at the time.

he beat pretty much everyone there was to beat at supermiddleweight which was a fairly empty division, besides the protected english men(more so eubank)

exactly, this is a poor thread, its like ppl now saying floyd didnt beat anybody of value, he beat many good fighters when they were undefeated and dangerous

michalczweski was shot and Gonzalez won by SD. Roy jones chin did not want no part of michalczweski punching power that why the fight never happened.

Julio Gonzalez lost to Roy Jones, Julio Gonzalez whooped Dariuz M. You guys love to discredit legends, but you look through anyone's resume you can particular. Hopkins had no business fighting DeLaHoya, or a blown up Tito, etc, etc, se how the argument works. Bottom line is Roy did something that hasn't been accomplished in over a century since Bob Fitzsimmons....the man deserves his credit. And to those who think Roy was only athleticism and no boxing skill, please, you dont know what you are talking about. Orthodox, no, but he had phenomenal boxing iq, it just takes looking at the subtle details that you people are obviously missing. Also, all these bums he faced, were or became world champions, and Jones did beat the hell out of Reggie Johnson at 175, and has fought more titlists than anyone you can name off the top of your head, 20 if Im not mistaken, and fought over 30 title fights. Stop being ridiculous and give this legend his due. Problem is yall love to hate the great ones
