when Shane asked for this fight after he stopped Marg...he was turned down for whatever reasons....when Shane was the top dude in the division it would have made sense...but NOW?!?....it only proves what many were whispering....as my dude Kevin Hart would say...say it witcha chest!! ....Top Rank is protecting Manny from a CERTAIN style....the sneaky thing is how they USE Floyd's name and situation as an EXCUSE to fight the fighters he's been fighting ....brilliant work by Top Rank....those dudes are the masters of manipulation.....wow....I will buy the fight because I'm a die hard Sugar Shane fan...NOTHING will change that....I'm on base until he retires...win or lose I stay on....thats my dude and I know he's too much of a warrior to NOT want this fight even though he's on the decline....he knows he aint the young Shane no more....so I respect him for ALWAYS wanting to fight the BEST.....shame on Top Rank for trying to catch Shane now....but hey, let the chips fall where they must....Shane by KO....shock faces will be the new trend next spring....free shock faces courtesy of Sugar Shane

I feel you on that. I'm a die hard Shane fan too and if he's able to, just once, bring the old Shane back prior to his last two fights, he'll beat Pac. Why do you think Roach wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole before that?

Based on his last two performances though, I have to reluctantly admit that I think age has finally caught up to him, but I'm rooting for him till the end.

This article does a great job of articulating how I feel. Berto is the biggest challenge of the 3. He has been champion long enough to be ready for Pacman now. He has the handspeed and relentlessness to really pose a threat. He isn't another battle damaged fighter and is a natural welter. Its obvious he is 2 big of a threat and his name was only used by Arum for negotiating leverage. This would have been a legit fight, I remember when those fights were commonplace. When the 2 biggest cash cows wont fight each other or fight Sergio Martinez the least you could expect is an Andre Berto fight. I guess even that's 2 much 2 ask for. I don't see the point of Pac taking all these months off only 2 face a passed it Shane Mosley. Arum's promotional style is whack. If he wasn't the top promoter boxing would not suck as bad as it does. Not saying that 2 diss all the quality matchups but as long as this guy is on top those matchups will be few and far between.

Manny cant fight them all at once. His (Berto's) chance will come. I say, line them up and Manny will definitely fight them one at a time. Once Manny is finished with Mosley, Berto should make sure that he is still undefeated by the time Manny selects his next dancing partner and, I'm pretty sure Berto will be the No. 1 on the list by then.

Kudos to boxingscene for stepping up with the articles lately... I hope this becomes the norm. Great job Jake, in breaking down the rationale for a Mosley shot at Pacquiao and constructing one for Berto. I agree wholeheartedly that while Mosley may have it in him to pull off an upset, there is no reason why Berto should'nt be aggressively pursued by Top Rank. Its good matchmaking sense.
