ALL JOKES ASIDE.... Since When Was Sugar Shane "A Big Draw"?

Shane vs Oscar 1: 585K buys
Shane vs Oscar 2: 975K buys
...I think we can agree those were driven by Oscar's popularity.

Shane vs Estrada was the undercard of Margarito-Cintron. That did 225K buys.

    Shane vs Vargas1: 415K buys
Shane vs Vargas 2: 375K buys
...can we agree those were driven by Nando's loyal fanbase?

Shane vs Cotto : 340K buys. Sold out at MSG (all Cotto's fans. remember, Cotto had sold the Garden with Abdullaev and Judah, and did 225K buys with Judah)

Shane vs Margarito: on WCB, Sold out Staples (all Mexican fans)

Shane vs Collazo: Mandalay Bay <5,000 attendance, much fewer paid.

Shane vs Mora: 100K PPV; 13,000 attendance at Staples.

Shane vs Mayorga: WCB; 5,798 attendance at Home Depot Center

So, when Manny says that Shane is a big draw (or much bigger than Marquez, for example)...what specifically is he referring to?

Explains the fight David Diaz who at the time was less of a draw than JMM

Which, in fairness, are more than Shane had ever done on PPV.
Shane and Mora didn't do any better. Right?

I mean, Pac and JMM did 400K together BEFORE they were both stars.

Shane never has been a major draw. Which is both sad and bizarre at the same time.
Hes one of the most exciting fighter of the last 20 years.

Pacquiao-Marquez would be bigger and more lucrative than Pacquiao-Mosley... but just not to Arum personally. I guarantee you if Marquez announced tonight he was leaving GBP, Arum would be in the media first thing in the morning touting a trilogy between Manny and Juan Manuel as if it were Ali-Frazier III.

Same exact thing happened with Mosley, just 2 months ago (after the Mora fight) Arum said Shane wasn't a big enough draw and his performance did not warrant a Manny fight. Shane leaves GBP then all of a sudden he's the second coming of prime De La Hoya.

                He's African-American that's why he's not a major draw.

Even though he's not a "big draw" im sure he's still recognized as a good solid fighter... regardless im a boxing fan and shane fan not a "draw" fan
Id say that a lot of the reason that many people watched the floyd-shane fight was the fact that people thought shane was an actual threat to floyd. And people watched because they were interested in watching floyd fight a threat, due to the general belief that floyd was/is a cherry picker, ducker, etci.

True. Holyfield, Tyson, Ali, Leonard, Mayweather. All of em would be bigger draw if it wasn't for the racist media.
