Cotto catchweight was 145 (Remember Cotto was 146 against Clottey) Do you think that 1 pound would of really made a difference? Be honest with your self.

Margarito who spent most of his career at 147, catchweight was 150, Marg was far from weigh drained at 165 at fight night...

Stop being a hater.. I like Cotto too but really he just wasnt on Pacs level..

DLH wanted it, so no criticism towards Pac is necessary. However, it still doesn't change the fact that it had been 7 years since the Golden Boy had fought anything south of 150. He was weight-drained and Roach even admitted it.

People on this board who talk about how catchweights don't affect fighters have no understanding of sports whatsoever. Cutting or maintaining weight is an exact science and fighters who are use to certain weight classes have a specific and delicate process when it comes to making weight. You mess with that process by adding a weight cap and it affects the fighter's performance.

Margarito was a career welterweight, so what I just said doesn't apply to him. There were other reasons to criticize that bout; the weight draining of Margarito is not one of them.

By the way, Cotto objected to putting his welterweight title on the line against Manny, but was essentially strongarmed by Arum and company.

He is still having a feeling that he won the two fights against pacquiao, he is not thinking that pacquiao is not the judge of those fight.

He shreds pacquiao record against those who got beaten by pacquiao at higher weight, why don't he try to fight those guys. is it because he already try fighting bigger guys he got his ass whoop, I'm talking about the fight against mayweather who is also so scared of fighting pacquiao.

Nevermind, we all know that he is up for big payday, he is getting old and theres no other fight which can give him a big payday than pacquiao fights.

The point is simple-it is literally every other fight.It doesn't matter how you spin it.If Cotto's "1" pound was irrelevant,then why ask for it? If Margarito had a choice of 150 or 154,which do you think he would choose????

Name one fighter as of recent that has said they feel weight drained as opposed to healthy and strong-you will be hard pressed to find many.

Aren't you getting tired of these type of stipulations and what happened to fair fights?True,I believe Manny would have beat Cotto and Margarito, but why further the advantage to add question marks? It cheapens the win. When a fighter wants to prove they are the best,I just believe it should be done in a way that wont be pathetic.For whatever reasons,Manny's team needed those pounds to come off of Tony,Cotto,etc.It is becoming so commonplace in Manny's string of opponents that his fans have either neglected it or treat it nonchalantly....

I dont think the blame towards Pac should be made for the Clottey and Margarito match ups.. Thats mostely Arums doing.. and again Arum is lining up the best FINANCIAL opponent for Pac when Floyd declines again in 2011...

So when it comes to match-making at the level of success that Manny has had,you don't think that he would have a say in who his opponents are?

As for Clottey,they could have chosen literally ANYONE over that unknown quantity and it would have made more sense, more money, and more of a fight.

At some point,you have to realize that either Manny is Arum's pawn OR that he can choose his opponents.Which one is it?
