It seems the issue lies where your priority is. If you are concern for your boxer's safety, you would stop the fight when his life is in jeopardy. But if you are concern for his reputation of being a tough warrior, then his life comes second and you will not stop the fight, disregarding his health which seems that was the case. In that situation, Pacquiao's camp was the one who save Margarito from sustaining further damage.
The first thing I thought of when I read that quote comparing Margarito to Gatti is how Buddy McGirt stopped the Mayweather fight once he realized Gatti wasn't able to do anything, before Gatti could get seriously hurt. No one thought any less of either Gatti or McGirt because of it.
i think it was that body shot than buckled marg that changed the fight. that uppercut came a little later. might have been in the same round im not sure
Mate you read my mind, I was watching the fight on SKY+ last night and in round 4 Pacqauio land a wicked bodyshot and from then on Margarito drop his guards to protect his ribs while crunching down, Pac then had all the power to go to the head where he was able to land the uppercut and some more combos.....Fight over.
In the Gatti (RIP) vs Ward fights, At least Gatti had a chance to win late on the scorecards. Once Margarito got into the late rounds and both his eyes were swollen shut he should've stopped the fight. Margarito didnt win a single round, it was pointless to continue. Your "Mexican Warrior" stubbornness nearly gave him permanent damage. Explain that to his family after the fight you peice of **** trainer.
.... the beginning of the end was in the 4th round .... the cut under the right eye of margarito came first but that was not it .... it was the left of manny to the body of antonio that ended the fight so to speak .... margarito back up, lost his breath & strength ....
Yea that quick powerful uppercut broke tony's eye socket. You could clearly see tony pawing at his eye after to check if it was still there. And then the body shot came a minute later.

Robert Garcia is a clown.
I agree with you and with the guy you were replying to. The fight should definitely have been stopped at the end of the tenth.

exactly that body shot backed tony up like you could see he really felt it,,,then the uppercut ripped tonys face open!
THE 7 PUNCH COMBO'S DIDNT HELP TONYS EYE EITHER!!!
manny looked like E-HONDA (street fighter) in there!!!!
Garcia should have stopped the fight and he would have done so had he cared just a little bit about Marg. Nobody but Marg would have complained had Garcia thrown in the towel in the championship rounds. I mean Marg couldn't see the punches coming and he was eating powershot after powershot without even the slightest bit of countering.
Besides. Had Garcia stopped it Marg would have been able to complain about it thereby saving a bit of face for those ****** fans that believe he should have been allowed to finish the fight.
A bit about the interview: Garcia says he had a solid strategy for Marg. The interviewer fails to find out what that 'solid strategy' was exactly. That's a shame because that would have been nice to know.
If Margarito ends up with the disorder these 3 clowns Garcia, Margarito, and Rios were making fun of because they didn't throw in the towel. How dumb will they feel then?
Pac's too fast for any opponent, just like Michael Vick. Speed kills!
