Robert Garcia, trainer of Antonio Margarito, had put together a solid strategy for his boxer to defeat Manny Pacquiao last Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The strategy, according to Garcia, went out the window in the fourth round of the fight when Margarito walked into a solid uppercut from Pacquiao. The punch opened up a bad cut under Margarito's right eye and caused the area to quickly swell up. The power of Pacquiao, combined with the speed of his punches, made Margarito reluctant to walk inside for the rest of the fight.

That beating is what he needed, it was almost the****utic. I think Margarito wanted to finish at least since he realized he wouldn't win. I think he gained a little more respect with it ending this way than if his corner threw in the towel, and Garcia knows this.

The uppercut hurt him but yeah, that left to the body buckled him over and he couldn't even punch after that. Margarito was almost dropped 3 or 4 times in that fight, he was lucky Pac took his foot off the gas towards the end.

So the fourth round is when he decided he couldnt mess with Pac or hed get hurt?

This dont apply to FLoyd because he will be pot shotting from long range all night. He wont want to find out if pac hits hard and is strong from the first round onwards.

It was not like he was winning till the 4th round. They did the mistake in thinking that Pac didn't have the power to hurt Margo. Margo got hit way to much in the start of the fight and it brought him to that point of the fight. A suprise jab was a good weapon and after the six he was sucessful throwing a striaght one two punch. But it was too little too late

The body shot came a minute after the uppercut that broke his eye...the body shot was the most effective punch of the fight imo outside of the uppercut n the right hook in round 10 or 11 but he was gone at that point already. The body shot may have starched him but it was the cut that made him reluctant to get hit from there on out...its not fun getting punched in a broken, swollen and cut eye lol

It seems the issue lies where your priority is. If you are concern for your boxer's safety, you would stop the fight when his life is in jeopardy. But if you are concern for his reputation of being a tough warrior, then his life comes second and you will not stop the fight, disregarding his health which seems that was the case. In that situation, Pacquiao's camp was the one who save Margarito from sustaining further damage.

Personally, this macho image is ****** because it could have ended Margarito's career, which that maybe the case. Although I've heard it is not. Your fighter's future lies on your hand, the ref., or your opponents camp, but most of all, from the doctor monitoring the fighters health condition. Making the wrong choice could have an irreparable consequences. Please, be responsible.
