Julian Jackson and Gerald McClellan were the top two at 160 when Jones was at that weight, not Jones.

Jones was Nigel Benn's WBC mandatory early in 1993 at 168, Jones chickened out of the fight though and decided to move back down to 160 instead.

Jones defended his IBF 160 title once, one whole year after barely winning the vacant title from an unknown club fighter Bernard Hopkins (Hopkins wasn't even ranked in the top five at 160 at the time). He didn't accomplish **** all at 160.

Jones defeated #1 lb4lb James Toney to jump into the #1 lb4lb spot undeservedly (and remain there for 10 years - very undeservedly). Jones wasn't ranked near the top 10 lb4lb until this fluke win against the severely weight-drained and extremely dehydrated Toney. Toney was weighing 220lbs just six weeks before the Jones fight, Toney was clearly a shadow of his usual self that night and it's no wonder why (terribly starved out and dried out and drained out).

Jones defended his IBF 168 title five times, three of which weren't even ranked in the top 10 at 168 at the time and another was just a 'blown-up' Lightweight. The first IBF mandatory that Jones ever faced at 160-168 was his last ever fight at 160-168, against Bryant Brannon (Bryant who?). He avoided fellow top five World Champions in Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Frankie Liles.

Jones defeated 40-year-old Mike McCallum and was magically 'awarded' the WBC 175 belt, he held the title for six years before finally stepping up in class when he got a gift decision and then got KTFO twice to flush his career down the toilet. He didn't defend against anybody, he avoided top-class competition for almost a decade and was juiced up to the gills on steroids anyway.

Michael Nunn was often Jones' mandatory in the mid-to-late 90's but Jones wanted nothing to do with him.

Jones backed out of his fight with Vassiliy Jirov with the contact signed by Jirov, I wonder why.

Dariusz Michalczewski was the Light-Heavyweight king from 1997 to 2003, not Jones. Michalczewski was the true Lineal champion at 175 all along, so Jones was pathetic carrying all those alphabet belts and looked like an idiot. How pathetic, he had nothing more than alphabet crap. Yes Jones has three 'names' on his record in Hopkins, Toney and McCallum but that's all they were - just 'names'.. the truth is that none were near their best on the nights they fought Jones and how pathetic is that just having 'names' on your record. Hopkins was very raw and fresh from prison, Toney was bloated and water-logged, and McCallum was a Grandad.

After Jones defeated the legendary Richard Hall (Nigel Benn wannabe lol) people were saying that he's "greater than Sugar Ray Robinson" - no comment.

Roy Jones Jr was a disgrace to boxing and the only place he belongs is in the Hall of Shame.

ok again, excellent points, but i dont think that rjj is that bad. I, in fact, think he is the man, but he was a great fighter, and if you deny that, your fighting a losing battle.

not as good as eubank and benn and McClellan is one thing, but calling him a disgrace??
                  thats a tough argument

You sound like a damn Kobe Bryant fan. "Everybody hates on Roy!!"

For every Roy hater, there's a thousand fans. Don't get so worked up over it. Every star athlete in every sport has to deal with the same ****.

                      hmm

PPL who hate on Roy have a strong opinion. I define someone as a hater of Roy when they attack his opposition, and/or his reasons for not fighting certain fighters, as well as not granting him the moniker of "great fighter". If Roy isn't to be classified as a great, then few are.

Super_Cruiserweight...I agree with some of the things you said, but, not all of them can really be said to be true. First, here is what you nailed right on:

                      1) Roy and G-man/Benn/Malinga situation.

                      2) You are right that Roy was smart not to go to Germany and no one should've expected him to.

                      3) Roy is a millionare, is multi-talented, was the best in boxing for a decade, etc. yes. Some of these issues are just plain facts.

Ok, now here are the things I cannot fully agree with, unless you can cite a good source, naturally:

                      1) Not sure Roy would have taken cuts in money to fight DM.

                      2) Not so sure Roy really would have been dumb enough to fight Calzaghe in his backyard after Roy being robbed in Seoul.

                      3) Roy's competition is not insanely good, but it is good. His good resume and the way he beat his victims makes him a "great" all-time fighter. Not necessarily the BEST, but great, nonetheless.
