calz took short money to make the fight because his resume was garbage. cotto's resume doesn't suffer the same problem.

The fans should be deciding not a promoter. This is why UFC is KILLING it! If boxing keeps this up, UFC will soon be called number 1 as far as popularity and PPV numbers.
    1) **** the ufc
    2) **** the ufc
    3) ufc is garbage.... they had a WWE professional wrestler as their HW champion with only 5 professional fights. what kinda garbage is that?

Bob Arum shouldn't even be making a single remark like that. At least he should say let me talk to my guy and talk to the paying customers aka the fans! The fans pay the bills. In Berto's case, HBO pays his bills. If HBO fronts a large amount and they go 50-50 it could be well worth it. Arum's just a greedy old bastard.....
arum said the right thing. berto is overpaid and is pricing himself out of the fight.

I am sorry but 40/60?? no way
Cotto did not even get 40 vs Pacquiao
Cotto bring 10 times more fans that Berto!

I agree with you about Calzaghe. He didn't and doesn't have a resume. The fact was he WAS the LHW champ and Jones didn't deserve a pay day from him. They made it happen to please the (few die hard) fans that wanted to see it. Cotto is good, but is on the slide, Berto is on the up and HBO can make it happen. Arum doesn't want to share the pie. that's the problem. He wants his guys fighting his guys so HE can make the most money without sharing....

As for the UFC, the promotional aspect and the deciding factors of how the fights are made it what is making it so popular. As for Lesner, the dude was unstoppable as a wrestler in college. How does one make money from that? Become a fake WWF/WWE wrestler. you cant hate on that. Its dumb as hell to watch but it put food on the table and some. As for him being the champion, that's due to his background. He was just defeated this past weekend due to his lack of actual fighting/boxing abilities. As for the UFC in general, its come a long way and is doing BIG things for being such a baby to the game. Boxing is sadly on the down fall..... Boxing needs to get back to the basics. Fighters "fighting" fighters. The element to VERY popular and on the rise UFC.

Boxing needs to put pride aside and learn a thing or two from UFC's tactics IMO. Boxing will forever be number 1 in my books but depending on who's fighting, I love watching UFC. You can dislike it UFC but must respect it. Lern to embrace it and learn from it. UFC actually gives the fans what they want!

Am I missing something. Has Andre Berto been approached for a fight with Miguel? If not, how the hell does anybody know that he wants 50/50 for such a fight? How bout we exercise some good ol fashion commonsense and patience and see how team Berto responds to such statements.

Berto has been overhyped from the start.

Berto does command some respect and the big names. He decimated lots of c level fighters, and performed well with Collazo and Quintana hile showing that he's a gladiator at the same time.

Never knew how much HBO paid for Berto's fights but I knew that they were grooming him to be a superstar. I said it would go to his head, HBO does this stuff and when their investment goes bust, they only have themselves to blame. No wonder dude acts like a preMadonna......a mil per fight, lol

LOL, I know I was gonna be like Hernandez who?? Berto hasn't really even stepped up in comp yet and once he does fight a Mayweather, Pac, or Clottey even, he will get bossed and then HBO will be out like 10 million they have invested in this guy. He has talent but he is FAR from a million dollar a fight boxer, especially when you have guys like Williams and Martinez splitting that kind of money......lol.
