I think Bob is just trying to find a way to get another Top-Rank fighter in there with Cotto so that he can make all the money. If Berto takes too much of the money, then Arum isn't left with much. I am sure Cotto would be satisfied with the money, but Bob won't... and that's the issue here.

Arum is totally right about Andre Berto. No way should he get
more money than Cotto or even equal. Can't believe that Berto
tried to tie it up with Mosley. Berto hasn't proved anything and
needs to fight. Now he is trying to pick and choose like Floyd
and Pac. Takes alot of hard work to get to that level and
Andre Berto is nowhere near there yet.

The blame is on Ross Greenburg and HBO for overpaying Berto against opponents he has no business facing like Urango, Forbes, or Hernandez.
        This is the truth.

Not one fighter/promoter tandem would do anything different if HBO gave them the option of making VERY good money while taking little risk. What's the incentive to take on the big boys if you're already getting paid like one?

I don't like Berto, but this is entirely on HBO. You can't ask him to start taking less than he's already been making....HBO set the bar, and they set it wayyyy too high.

Is Berto overpaid or is it that Berto isn't signed with Top Rank.

Sure they can, and then he can go and find out how much showtime pays.

I'm 100% with Cotto and Arum on this one. Cotto deserves a way bigger split if the fight happens, but Gomez and Foreman in my view are on par with the slugs that Berto has feasted on. Meaning that regardless of who gets what, Cotto will probably get paid more to fight Berto than someone like Gomez or Jennings. But yeah, Berto can't draw flies to shit and I think Cotto would beat him.

arum hit it right on the ****in nose. berto is an overpaid hbo hypejob. if berto wants to get the big names in the ring, he's gotta take short money, otherwise he can go on HBO welfare and show up on undercards. but when history looks back on him, it will judge him that he wasted years and years fighting 147 bums and 140 lbers in a stacked 147 lbs division.
