Comments Thread For: Carl Froch Explains The Future Direction of The Super Six
Collapse
-
As I said in another thread, I am now doubting whether the Super Six will go on. I fully expect Froch and Abraham to fight no matter what happens.
But as for Dirrell and Ward, there is little to no chance they would be fighting each other at this point of their careers if it wasn't for the Super Six. The fact they are suppose to fight in 25 days and have no venue, tickets or promotion going on suggests that the fight could be dead in the water. There's a reluctance for both to fight as they are good friends, with the Super Six on the verge of collapsing I can see them both pulling out and going seperate ways and fighting different people for a few years until they've both become bigger stars.
It's a shame because I was looking forward to seeing these two fight potentially twice if they both made the final, which would also set them up for a final fight to make the trilogy after the Super Six when they have both cleaned up the division.
I think we'll be lucky to see them fight at all. It's kind of reminding me of Alexander and Bradley, two young stars in the division reluctant to fight. I was really looking forward to Dirrell v Ward, it's exactly the type of match that wouldn't get made in modern boxing. Two young stars are usually kept apart so they can both become bigger and when they do fight earn a lot more money. The Super Six were forcing them to fight at this point of their careers. With no Super Six, they won't feel the need to fight each other.
I really hope I'm wrong, because of the 4 fights I was hoping to see this year (Floyd v Pac, Wlad v Haye, Bradley v Devon, Dirrell v Ward) this one was the only one that looked likely to happen.

wtf Lucian Bute should get in line. Instant shot at Super Six champion lol. Fight the runner up before you hop right up to #1

I bet Green is pissed that he's not getting another guaranteed decent payday.
Bute should go after Green since both are sitting still at the moment.

Froch v. Kessler: Had Froch winning but again the decision went to the home side. Understandable.
1-1 is about right, could be 2-0 as easy as 0-2

I like Allen Green alot, but this is the right call. I seen him as about a 15-1 shot to win in Denmark. I'm sure he is richer for the experience and this would not have went this way had he beat Ward. I would expect him on Ward/dirrell undercard against an Andrade level fighter with say a fight with loser of AA/Froch on finals card on the line.

Best case scenario is Kessler-Bute happening in the meantime though.

thats bull****. kessler got schooled by ward and then got a close decision i personally fel he lost looking crap in the process. the three guys who are left and dont end up winning should be next to fight the winner, they are all better than kessler. bute is in the mix too, kessler should have to prove himself before getting a shot at the winner.
