I just want to see Khan face a variety of tests...both Urango and Mabuza represent something we haven't seen Khan face yet.

I don't think anyone involved will be up for making Khan-Ortiz...factor in the time it takes to negotiate that one and there's only 2 months for the guys to to prepare and for the fight to be built up. Can't see it.
it's alexander's style to fight khan's leftovers...why should khan follow that path when he's greater than alex!.....

It's not whether they're a step up or down technically...what they are is seasoning for Khan, in dealing with strong, pressuring guys who can hit...that they are C class in a pure boxing sense makes them ideal for Khan to prepare for better versions of what they do.

And if you think Urango and Mabuza don't have a better chance of getting to Khan than a faded Malignaggi, you're nuts.

Have you actually looked at who Khan was fighting in his last 2? Urango and Mabuza are a step down from Salita? Deteriorated, shopworn Paulie is more dangerous?

      LMAO.

HBO or Showtime would never use Guzman in a main event again. His fights aren't exciting and he is a very high risk not to make weight. No network wants to lose their main event with 24 hours notice.

kotelnik is an olympic silver medalist who has beaten maidana

urango has shown to be a limited fighter throughout his career, remember who he beat to get the IBF title? neither does panda. his biggest win is over randall bailey...

mabuza is in the mix because he beat a holt who looked nothing like the holt that fought bradley or torres, holt gave up before he gave up in that fight

khan-ortiz is a more plausible fight then u might think seeing as theyre both under the same promotional banner. khan wants to fight in december remember so with the ramadan and negotiations he will have 2 months to prepare regardless not to mention both guys fought on the same card so it makes sense for them to face eachother

Urango would beat Malignaggi in the same fashion Hatton did. If a feather fisted, safety first version, lightweight Juan Diaz was able to have success against him, imagine what the huge punching, more active Urango would do. He's definitely a step down from Kotelnik though.

I love the polarized ******ity when it comes to discussing Khan here,

it's either people who think he should get away with avoiding anyone with a punch and be allowed to keep feasting on smaller guys who can't hit for the rest of his career,

or guys who think he should just jump straight in with the perceived baddest, hardest-hitting dude on the block (Maidana ATM).

Diaz is a MUCH better boxer than Urango, though. And I don't think Diaz was safety-first against Paul so much as Paul's speed and movement gave him a hard time establishing his old pace. I see Malignaggi-Urango much more competetive than you're calling it, based on styles and ability levels.

The point, though, is that what Urango brings presents more of a threat to Khan than Malignaggi did.

I agree about the power, but do you really think Urango is more active than Juan Diaz?

Definitely not a prime Diaz, but he's more active than the blown up, shot one Malignaggi fought.
