sub-question: If Roy fights again on HBO, who's at ringside with Lampley and Merchant? Does George come back for a one-shot deal, do Lampley and Merchant fly solo, or do they bring in a ringer?

One thing jones havent proved is that whether he can hurt tarver at all. thats the only question, if he cant hurt him then he's done. if he plans to run his bicycle, he may run out of gas, as shown in his last few fights. too difficult fight for jones.

Roy Jones Can beat Tarver or Johnson...Tarver Landed a perfect punch but was gettin outboxed b4 that...Jones wasnt even fighting against Johnson...If joens wants it bad enough he can get it..plain and simple...Its all up to him..

I believe Jones, properly trained will still have the speed, skill and power to win a fight against either of those guys. What I don't know, is if his brain can handle getting knocked around anymore. When you get knocked out twice, in a short time span, and are out for a while, like Jones was against Johnson, will your body ever really get its "chin" back?
Edit:
Put it this way, Jones could be dominating for 8 rounds, but if he gets hit by a decent punch, will his body cave the way Eric Lindros does in hockey now? That's the uncertainty for me. I think Jones can win, as long as his "chin" has healed or recuperated, but I don't know if that's really possible.

So much doubting of Jones, I know the guy is just a shadow of himself but I really believe if trained and focused properly he can beat Tarver.

Roy's a boxing legend and he has nothing to prove. But I do know that he does not want to end his career by getting KO'd by 2 guys that he would have easily beaten in his prime. If Roy is really dedicated and fights in a style that his age can cope with, then there's a good chance that his comeback will be sucessful. However, Roy cannot expect to fight in the style he's been fighting for his whole career. His speed is diminished and his reflexes are gone, so he definately need to learn a more fundamental style to win.

hmmm
1) Tarver does have apunch. Always has. Did the same to Harding and many fighters before that. He just fights like an amatuer sometimes. Vs Glen Tarver didn't put too much heat on his punches. Instead, he threw a LOT of punches.
2) Roy's chin was decent before losing so much muscle mass. Losing muscle mass affects the brain in a negative way. Talk to an MD about this issue. Roy got caught by Del Valle, Toney, Hopkins, and several other fighters. He has been fighting guys bigger than him his whole career and finally got stopped under adverse circumstances. That doesn't equal a weak chin. Vargas getting pounded by De La Hoya who is naturally smaller than him is a much better case.
As far as Roy NOW goes, I hope he doesn't take the fight. Safety first. Aikman of the Cowboys was EASILY concussed at the end of his career. Roy may now be the same way. Under certain circumstances, in can happen to anyone, and has happened many times.
If Roy came back and won though...wow...that would be HUGE. I think there is a chance Tarver might have the same weakness in trilogies that he seems to have in first fights (Harding I, Jones I, and Johnson I). Tarver could come in over confident having scored an early stoppage of Roy and Roy could take advantage of that.
