Jones Tarver III - Can Roy's body take it?

I was just reading on ESPN that Jones Tarver III is under heavy negotiations now that Hopkins has lost to Taylor.

Do you think Jones chin/brain is in good enough shape to keep boxing? I know his career has some unfinished business, but the way he got knocked out by Johnson was scary. His trainer shouldn't have let him fight so soon after getting knocked out by Tarver. It was so obvious his brain wasn't ready to handle another fight, considering how close the two fights were together, and how badly the knockout affected him. Personally, I'm 50/50 as to whether a boxer could recover from something like that and come back to fight. I'm no doctor, so I don't know how much time can heal those sorts of injuries. I wouldn't want anyone to go in fighting unless I was sure they were 100% ready to fight as a fighter could ever be.

I think opponents including Tarver of course have the confidence to attack Jones and are not scared or in awe anymore...so from here on out...any fight Jones has may be looked at as a 50/50 chance of him losing...only because you don't know who may land that perfect shot to stop him...it is amazing he has gone this long in his career without ever really being tagged

horrible idea for Jones. I think he should stay retired. His ego is too big and I'm sure he still feels he can do it. Two straight ko losses should tell him otherwise.

I would bet on Roy winning the fight, My guess would be he trains harder then he ever did before and wins the trilogy. I know Ill be rooting for Jones.

I just wonder if training would really make a difference in terms of how easy you get KOed. I mean, when you get knocked out like that, I'm sure you end up with a pretty serious concussion. So, if you get a concussion, and then another really serious concussion only three months later (or whatever it was) that would be a really bad thing. Each time you get a concussion, the next one is easier. Look at Eric Lindros in hockey ... the last time he got a concussion was from a really inoccent looking hit. It's a shame they let him get back in the ring so quickly after losing to Tarver.

Anyone know anything about sports medicine related to boxing? I'd be interested in knowing if medically speaking, Jones' chin was finished.

Who the hell wants to see this???

Roy was supposed to fight Johnson and knock his ass out, but the opposite happened...Is Tarver ****ing serious about this???

This will be a easy night for Tarver..

I don't think Jones should fight anymore Light Heavyweights that can punch requisite to their size. There is a big difference between Ruiz and Tarver, and Johnson. I think Jones would still be undefeated if he had not gone into the light heavyweight division. The entire scenario reminds me of the great light heavyweight, Bob Foster, who could punch better than any light heavyweight of all time and was a knock out artist in his division, but couldn't beat any of the top punching heavyweights. Jones is a great fighter, but he is biting off more than he can chew.

He would have a better chance trying to make Tarver go down in weight than keep fighting these bigger guys.

If Tarver fights Jones like he did Glen, Jones can win. That tap combo to get points want work on Jones because Jones has the quicker handspeed as he would get beat to the punch by Jones. But Jones chin is still suspect? I thought he was superman:cry before Tarver rocked his ass. And Tarver isnt the biggest power puncher
