Bute is not in the S6 and thats bad enough. Drop those 2 ASAP and let Moreno and Hasegawa in.

So we can have NO doubt as to who the best 118 pounder is. Hasegawa already said hes ready to come stateside and Moreno would kill for an oppurtunity like this so lets do it.

Or if Hasegawa is still reeling from his surgery on his jaw let Darch and Agbeko fight to get in the tourney and give Moreno an automatic bid.
What the hell are you talking about they have to get rid of Darchinyan and Agbecko? Darchinyan is the biggest name of the bunch and Agbecko is one of the more exciting fighters at 118. That statement makes no sense as having 8 allows showtime to get:

    Mares
    Montiel
    Donaire
    Darchinyan
    Moreno
    Agbecko
    Perez
    Hasegawa

To me that is perfect and I really can't see any other bantamweight making a case outside of Cerimo (sp) but that is a push as they already have one dark horse (a guy who is basically unknown the the general public) in Moreno. You can push one guy but not two, as Showtime can play the whole "wildcard" with Moreno.

In this particular case I would side with Arum I think single elimination works best for this proposed tournament.

Howver I like the round robin with the super six at SMW

Thats my mistake I was still thinking 6 man.

If those 8 guys are in then its a perfect tourney.

I heard they also wanted to drop rankings and just pull names out of hat. Thats perfect.

We could get Montiel vs. Moreno out the gate. Or Donaire vs. Hasegawa in the first round.

I just dont want to see Donaire getting an easy ass first round. Like against Agbeko or Darch rematch. Who I think Donaire would beat easily.

Single elimination is perfect for an 8 man tourney.

Its staright to the point and we get a champion crowned quicker.

No ****** point things for KO's.

I personally don't think any fight for any of these guys will be easy. All 8 are very close in talent and ability which is why this is so interesting. FWIW Darchinyan and Agbecko wont be easy matches for Donaire I guarantee you that.

Moreno and Cermeno are having their rematch in eight days, if Cermeno wins, he definitely warrants a spot, and Moreno too, IMO. Hasegawa would as well.

Moreno is a dark horse only in the sense that he's unknown (no one mentions his name or Cermeno's when talking about the best at 118), but he's the longest reigning champion and has one of the best, if not the best, resume at 118.

I ultimately see your point about Agbeko and Darchinyan though, both Cermeno and Moreno don't have what would be considered crowd pleasing styles. Though IMHO, Darchinyan is basically the Jermain Taylor of the bunch.....the biggest name but doesn't have much of a chance of winning.

Well it's too late to push this but they could have put a lot of significance on Cermeno vs Moreno as a spot at the 8th spot. It would draw attention as well as make there fight more meaningful kinda like they do in college basketball where two teams play for the 64th spot in the NCAA tourny.

The round robin format does take a lot of time, and lets face it: these are smaller guys, they might not keep the public's attention as long as the super six.

I actually think single elimination would be great for this scenario, quick, less obligating, and we get great matchups.
