But it was all entirely backfoot stuff, not sure I even saw Jacobs on the back foot before this fight; he was always going to get caught. But at least he tried to switch it up.

It's not that bad of a defeat, not really. Pirog is the vastly more experienced man.
Hadn't seen Pirog before that I could recall (maybe I saw him on some unders and forgot, I dunno), wasn't impressed,

    but, serious question,

how is he the vastly more experienced of the two? What's he been up to?

And the punch itself was nicely thrown and un-telegraphed, but I don't know how Jacobs wouldn't be expecting a right hand from the way Pirog was advancing.

Cringing back up against the ropes and defence low like that.

Then we'd be saying the ref should have stopped it after he was out cold the first time etc etc. It was the right call.
he was'nt out at all you idiot, he was trying to take all he could from the count and the dumbass ref calls it off at 5

No, he actually tried to get up after the ref stopped the fight.

i also thought that the ref should've given him a chance to get up and see if he was going to make it

wow whats with all the controversy here - Jacobs was out cold! he is lucky that the way he fell, he didn't hit his head on the mat. pirog is a monster, once jacobs hit him a couple of times flush in that 1st round and he didn't go nowhere i think it got jacobs thinking. Now as the fight wore on you could tell that pirog was the better skilled fighter, his defence / head movement, and he's very accurate with his punches. His unorthodox style was just too much for such a green fighter! No one can take away anything from pirog!! He was the better fighter in there - the ref saved jacobs from further punishment honestly! I would love to see pirog against martinez/p will/pavlik - etc - this guy has a good package - offense and defence

I can tell you're mew to boxing, but when people fall forward like that, they are out.

jacobs was moving throwing arm punches, you can get any snap or power like that. but the ref should have gave him a chance to get up IMO
