arum and floyd can't see eye to eye. Floyd parted ways with him. They hate each other. What more proof do you want that a middle man is needed for a negotiations.

Hence, Greenburg is the guy who had to do the backdoor deals.. Geez that's how negotiations work if you want to make a fight happen. You go to back channels to get your message across.

Ross Greenburg's apparent involvement is the reason why I never took these "negotiations" very seriously in the first place.

I do believe that Greenburg has been recently involved, however I do not believe that it was since May 2nd, because Ellerbe publicly stated on May 10th that Floyd was not thinking about boxing. Greenburg has passed on a couple of messages, or made a couple of inquiries, most likely at Arum's behest..... and it is being passed off as "negotiations" to justify why you will give Bob Arum $50 to watch Manny beat up Margo, and then you will give him another $50 to watch Manny beat up Cotto.

Richard Schaefer will be the man who eventually successfully negotiates the May/Pac fight.

They talked for sure but I think Arum just kind of stopped dealing after a certain point and made a decent offer, Floyd probably wanted and offer that blew his socks off to fight and that wasn't the offer they got and Arum just left it at that. I think things got started but I don't really think they got much beyond that for whatever reason, and I think both sides were fine with what happeaned.

Now both sides are playing the spin game, I just don't think Greenburgs statement is as black and white as most are making but certainly understand why those arguements are made.

I didn't say anything about Greenburg being a liar or anything like that so really I don't get where you are comming from. What Ross said is accurate and he did what he could to make the fight occur and still wants to make the fight occur.

Now it all depends on what truly negotiating means and both sides can spin it till the cows come home~
