Floyd looks like he's winning this on paper, but I get the feeling Sergio will be a little hard to time because he has a strange style. He's very awkward and very unorthodox. Not to mention his size and athleticism.

On the other hand Mayweather himself said size doesn't win fights and his talent level is lightyears above Martinez. Also, if he does manage to time him, it's going to be a really one sided fight for Mayweather because he'll capitalize on Martinez taking off rounds to rest and the fact he likes to keep his hands down.

You make good points. I think the fact that Martinez likes to move and box favors Floyd. He's going to love just having to "outbox" someone. I think the lead right will find its mark and give Martinez big problems.

Cotto should not entertain another Pac fight at a another catchweight. Let it be at 154 or nothing else.

Martinez and Mayweather at 154 would be AMAZING! Martinez puts him away!!!! I said it first! lol
no actually thats not entirely true

while yes he did agree to fight at 145, this was prior to Manny requesting, and getting the WBO to enforce that the title be on the line and that if Cotto refused then the belt would be vacated.

Cotto was indeed forced to fight at 145 WITH his belt on the line

that is where I have an issue

        again for the slow

if Martinez CHOOSES not to come in at 160 to fight for his middleweight belt fine thats his CHOICE

but again he should be afforded the same allowances as any and all of the other middleweight champs do

the allowance of being able to weigh 160 if needed

        that's it

I agree. I don't think a title should be on the line if a catchweight is involved regardless of who's fighting. Duran never needed one, Whitaker never did, Robinson, Armstrong, I can go on and on. You can't claim that a fighter, whether it's Pacquiao or Mayweather, is the greatest ever when they use catchweights that past greats never needed or requested.

Right. If it's a non title fight, I have no issue with it. But a champion earns the right to defend his belt with the standard weight limit. 145 is two pounds under the limit. The fact that he weighed 146 previous to that is irrelevant. That was a totally different training camp. 145 is two pounds under 147 no matter how you look at it.

Floyd already fought Oscar at 54' and looks massive these days anyway, there's no need for a catchweight.

And a fight at 54' is for the 54' belt. Not his 60' belt. If he wants that Sergio can weigh 60' if he wants to.

Whatever weight its at, Floyd gets killed in this fight regardless so I don't even care tbh.

                  You're right Cali.

But Martinez kind of waived that right and left it in Floyds hands to decide.

If it's a Middleweight fight, I think 157 catchweight is fair (i.e.Oscar vs BHop). If it were at 154 though, I wouldn't want a catch weight.

Yeah but thats for the payday. And again, this isn't about sergio to me its about floyd. If he negotiates the 155-157 limit i'll be disappointed.
