Foreman did a great job sticking in there, if you don't give him credit for that, then you're the bum. It's so easy for you to sit behind your PC acting all macho and courageous.. You would probably have quit, give the guy some credit alright - he DESERVES it.
That is what I am saying. I would understand the point if it was a hand injury, a cut, a shoulder injury. But, it was a leg injury which takes away the ability to do a lot of things. And, especially when Foreman best attributes is using the whole ring. And, at the end of the day Foreman didn't even give any excuses. To not give him credit or to say it is overrated is pretty idiotic.

Terrible thread, Burner. Foreman showed unbelievable heart but it was what he said in the post-fight interview that won me over..."I'm the champion, I'm supposed to act like one" or something along those lines.

wow this thread has a sad observation about yuri and his efforts.

after his knee gave out, as a feather fisted fighter, and knowing he is a feather fisted fighter, instead of packing it in, foreman was actually throwing punches to win..

now, im not a fan of his style as a whole, per se, but he basically had his leg chopped off, almost the equivalent to, and was throwing punches to try and do damage, harder than he was throwing before his knee went out on him.

i commend yuri foreman, and i think that he is a warrior because he made a stand and was willing to go out injured to try and win, knowing a tko, ko was an inevitable risk.

im not saying he's the ultimate warrior out in the boxing world, but he earned and deserves that respect of a warriors title.

i know and can say that there are many fighters that all of the people here on boxingscene like that would've quit, and many of those fighters fans would be defending their decision in quitting saying that it was a smart career move, its not a fair fight, better to fight another day, etc.

we've seen guys quit from less and get defended by fans and people, a great example, cintron.

my question is, out of all the top fighters, in a high level fight, would they have continued? being in foremans situation???? fighting with one leg? against a guy that has a track record of hitting hard and getting late round ko's?

would mayweather keep fighting? or paul williams? pacquiao? it's tough to say, i say no, i think that they would pack it up if they were injured like that in a fight to avoid a ko loss..... i think that they would site their health is their main concern and it's not worth their health, all the while they're looking to avoid a tko, ko loss, because that way they could say that it was the injury and not the other fighter that beat them and was the cause of the loss.............

yuri foreman pulled it together far more and far better than 90% of the fighters out there on the A class level, and it's refreshing to see a guy like foreman head into the abyss without fear of losing and getting stopped......

yuri has got heart, a warriors spirit, and some brass balls................

he made me a fan, and im very critical of hyped fighters and especially feather fist fighters.

i think yall that are hating on foreman are missing the point and are marginalizing his efforts based on his ring generalship because you don't like his style. opinions are fine, but seriously, dude is worthy of the title warrior.............

I give him credit for fighting on, a lot of people would have quit or weakened further. But man was he in trouble once his legs were gone, the stoppage was inevitable.

            Yea that got me too,

he said something like :I'm the World champion, well now the former World Champ, I am suppose to act like one and not quit."

How can you honestly **** on this guy after that? It makes no sense.

Yea, that's the one. Seriously, we should be praising Yuri for real.

I heard that but everything after "former world champ", I missed. Good to hear that from a young fighter, again he was pretty much untested against Cotto's quality.

A real boxing fan would give him credit, a douchebag wouldn't.

Find and quote where I said that...

Doesn't matter if you are impressed...If he would have quit, you would have called him a *****. He didn't, and he's still a *****. You are a trip.

I won't call him Gatti, but I was pissed when he got hurt (I thought the fight was over), then he continue, he earned respect for that.

He was clearly not in Cotto's class, and could have cashed it in...He didn't!

I won't go as far to call him Gatti, but a *****? I will not do.
