Gamboa probably has never made the kind of money before that he would be making for fighting Caballero either so it works both ways. You can't hog what you don't deserve. 50-50 should've gotten this fight done easily and it sounds to me like Top Rank were the unreasonable negotiators. We've seen this time and time again, and not just in this case.

Paragraph 5 is where Arum told HBO they didn't want the fight.

      HBO told DiBella this.

Yeah. This is the smoking gun right here. And everybody is trying to say Cab bitched out. Top Rank and Gamboa probably would've ducked the fight even for a good amount of money. That's what that link says to me.

Gamboa did not want the fight. I read somewhere that HBO gave them a budget of 750,000 and Gamboa wanted a $1 mil.

I don't know where he'd get a million at this point . Maybe a ppv with JuanMa but even then, I don't know if he could get that because they'd still probably have to stack the card which means a lot of $$$ paid to other fighters.

I don't why all these guys think they are Michael Carbajal or something.

I'm not taking sides here and i like Gamboa better than Cab but when you say "career high payday" it can be trickier than we would think. Lets say Cab made 240k in his last fight, is now offered 250k, a career high payday, should he be happy with it? I don't think he would... Specially if his lower ranked, younger opponent is taking a bigger amount. Just my 2 cents.

cab has no fan base in the USA. he needs these high profile fights and has to take short money atleast 2x to start demanding more money.

Caballero deserves a good payday. He goes all over the world fighting everybody, has an exciting style and talks a lot of **** and he's been doing it a long time.

I am a fan and many others on here are as well.

I dont feel bad for him at all. He has been saying that he is the best that nobody wants to fight him nd then he rejects a more than decent offer.

I mean , he started in boxing getting paid how much.

Yes he has gone to ppls backyards , but that exactly is what hurts him.

Now he gets a title shot , for a quarter mil, Against a quality opponent , plus bragging rights , plus , if he was to beat Gamboa ( which I really doubt) But if he was to beat him , HIS BIGGEST DREAM WOULD HAVE COME TRUE , LOPEZ!!!!!!!!! I mean , is he doin heroin or something.

U just dont do that , specially when biased fans like Iceta are the ones defending u.

Good pay day , ttitle shot against Gamboa , Bragging rights , THE TITLE , LOPEZ SHOWDOWN , EVEN CLOSER!!!

U dont turn those things down , specially since hes been running his mouth for so long
