You do know I'm talking specifically about the biggest names in the sport, today and in its history, when you connect the dots they all connect to the best proponents of the African American Style of boxing.
Call yourself a boxing fan. Talking about how you got more knowledge then everyone in this thread. Yet muttha****er don't even know who Calderon is.
I am born and raised in the U.S like you. And, I have seen Calderon fights how come you havent? Because your ass don't really follow boxing. You only follow the big names like the casual fans.

Ali was not a pure boxer, Roy Jones wasn't either. They were unorthadox, athletic, boxers but they didn't both fighters didn't have much defence in the way of blocking, they had incredible head movement which allowed them to avoid punches. As well as Ali not going to the body.
Ali did develop some blocking like in the Foreman fight but he didn't use that style often, Tyson was definately not a pure boxer he was a search and destroy fighter. Holyfield, Duran, Hagler were not pure boxers. Henry Armstrong was not a pure boxer.
Even in todays day and age we have few "pure boxers" Floyd, Paulie and perhaps Wlad are the only pure boxers. Even guys that seem like they are (Martinez) are instinctively incredible counter punchers. Hopkins is all but retired so I don't think it's fair to include him.
Also I don't think you can label someone a certain style throughout their entire career, Fighters have shown they evolve and change their styles when they get older. Hopkins became much more defense focused moreso than when he was young. Calzaghe went from a boxer/puncher with decent power in his fists to a light hitting volume punches, Wlad went from a more aggressive fighter to a defensive first conventional "work behind a jab" fighter.

You're a casual fan. Is OK but don't come in here acting like you know boxing cuz you don't.
