Tarver-Johnson: who was HURT the most in the fight?/forum as a whole not engrossed?

Never mind who won, who was actually hurt the most in the fight? While I like Glen, I wanted Tarver to win because I had money - both real and virtual - riding on him.

Yet the only time when I thought one of them looked seriously hurt was Tarver in the eleventh. Agree?



Also, I get the feeling that this is one of the lesser-appreciated fights of the year. Take recent times: Hatton-Zoo and Tyson-McBride had two or three pages full of threads. Granted, most of them were saying the same things and got merged, but the interest was there. With Tarver-Johnson it isn't.

Was it the quality of the fight, or the fighters themselves? I seem to remember the last time they fought they didn't exactly crash Boxing Scene's server, either.

Tarver look like he had nothing left after the 11th round. If that round went longer Tarver was in trouble...

They had to hold Tarver up in the corner, I thought it was much closer than what the judges had it. I mean Tarver was throwing a lot of shots but alot of them were landing on the glove and werent really effecting Johnson at all. But whatever he was the busier fighter and that got him the nod. I was pulling for Johnson but Tarver won convincingly. I just hope Tarver gives him the rematch, as that is the only lucrative fight out there for Tarver.

I only saw Tarver hurt in the fight as you said and hte lack of heat stems from the fact that while sentiment ususally supports him, Glencoffe is a C+ fighter and always has been. Tarver is more polished but is not exciting either. He usually fights to the level of his opposition. B fighter.

Who cares about their fights since there's no dazzling speed, awesome power or frankly excitement about whether they live or die?

They both were fortunate enough to happen along when Roy was ripe for pickin ... and they picked him off.

Neither will be remembered a year or two from now for their careers.

That is why he fought in such a lackluster fashion in the 12th he was still hurt from the previous round and so he held on. If Johnson was a little bit more tenacious at the beginning of round 12 he might have put Tarver on the Canvas.

Did Tarver even throw a punch in the 12th round? Seriously I could have sworn all Tarver was doing was leaning over from exhaustion and holding onto Johnson. I was a bit surprised the ref didnt take a point away.

Tarver faded down the stretch, it is unfortunate Johnson cant fight on the outside because in that 11th round if he fought from the outside he probably would have put Tarver down to score a 10-8 round.

I actually think Johnson was more hurt during the fight. All he knows is to come forward but that doesn't mean that he wasn't hurt. There was several big shots that Tarver landed that stopped Johnson's forward progress and some of his facial expressions showed that punches were getting to him.

Awww, you must mean when he was hit in his face and his eyes and mouth curled up into a grimace ... sorta like a bloodhound?
