He shouldn't. I think Berto should be next if a Pac fight won't materialze. I think Alvarez needs to prove himself before stepping in the ring with Mayweather. However, stranger things have happened. I thought Pac would fight Mayweather, Mosley, Devon Alexander, Berto or Tim Bradley before he would step in the ring with Clottey. I was wrong. And now, he is likely to fight Antonio (I didn't know I was cheating) Margarito in his next fight instead of one of these high quaility opponents.

If Floyd ****blocks Manny from fighting Shane....best believe Arum will **** block Floyd from a Cotto/Margarito or any other Top Rank fight. Paybacks a b1tch so if Floyd wants to play that game...he picked the wrong guy to do battle with.

my question is this..OBVIOUSLY Mayweather is the MAN to beat right now..as he's been for the past couple years..and Cotto has look like nothing more than a vulnerable boxer who's best days are likely past him..that is maybe until June 5th when we see him with his new corner..

there isn't a bigger draw right now than Cotto..he's done DLH, Hatton, Mosley..Cotto is a BIGGER Draw than Mosley..so..

        ..MY QUESTION IS THIS!..

If Cotto by some MIRACLE, (some *****'s and *******s would call it), were to beat Mayweather and hand him his FIRST L..were would he stand as far as P4P ranking, Drawing Power, etc..?..

Mayweather doesn't possess the same qualities as Margarito and Pacquiao with the relentless pressure and doesn't have that thudding power that they do with the accumulation of punches..so it won't be another demolition but it could be a bad decision loss for Cotto..I understand this..

        but If he wins...then what?...

where does he stand and where does he go from there?..
who care i'll be happy as a boxing fan to get to see a fight like this regardless of who wins or loses or who's superior or shot. it's like you saying you wouldnt want to see cotto vs pwill cuz it would be ugly for cotto. as if cotto was some garbage fighter compared to carlos quintana. as a boxing fan i would love to see those fights. **** the b.s and lets be happy fights like this can possibly happen.

Beating Cotto at this point does nothing or proves nothing for Floyd plus people forget the man who is killing boxing one fight at a time ARUM would be involved so this fight happening has less of a chance than the pac fight. Then again he's no longer ARUM's cash cow so prob would rather sacrifice him to mayweather just to spare Pac. But if by a miracle it happens then Cotton in my eyes would be considered one of the greatest WW's.

I have to agree, cotto-mayweather should be made at 154lbs. This is the fight that will make floyd quit to his stool. Cotto is a Bad match up for floyd.
