Comments Thread For: Dirrell Drops King Arthur To Win, Suffers Brutal Knockout

By Jake Donovan - Nearly six years after capturing Olympic Bronze in the 2004 Summer Games, Andre Dirrell came home to score the biggest win of his professional career.

The manner in which he achieved it just wasn’t the way he ?or anyone else ?could’ve possibly envisioned it occurring.

Hometown fighters remain perfect four fights into the Super Six World Boxing Classic, though the first disqualification verdict came about. When all was said and done, Dirrell left the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan with his first win of the round robin, after previously unbeaten Arthur Abraham was disqualified in the 11th round of their non-title bout.

Original plans actually called for the fight to take place three weeks ago and in a somewhat neutral location, as the super middleweight contenders were supposed to fight at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California. [Click Here To Read More]

And Dirrell is being criticized for being the victim of a very flagrant, and dangerous foul. Disgusting.

Dirrell's career is over. He'll never recover from that. That was worse than what KO'd Hatton.

The USA favouritism was abvious as usual. If that wasnt a knockdown by Arthur in the 9th I think, then im a dutchman. I think if Dirrell carried on Arthur would have ko'd him anyway. Arthur was getting to him and hurting him.

I can't lie I felt Dirrell was on his way to getting knockout anyway.I felt bad the way it happen and AA deserve to get D.Q.But I will say this Dirrell does go down alot.Like he he goes down just from ducking from a punch. Was very mad at the outcome of this fight.

i think that punch was way too close to say it was "discusting" foul.

The ruling was right, but its wasnt like a day after

Dirrell fights beautifully but and its a big BUT, Abe was catching up quickly in the last 9 mins. You could just feel the power of Abe,,any shot was gonna take him out and that last Knockdown was a true Knockdown. Abe's butt hitting the canvas was mainly from being off balance.

I can't see Abe winning like he fights. You are not always gonna get the KO.

I think the big punch just came in the HEAT of the Battle.

Abe was zeroing in , it was touch and go , I hated it for Abe and Dirrell to end like it did.

                  Surely Dirrell will be fine.

Direll did not win...That fight was bought by Direll. Ummmm wonder how much the referee was paid....He needs to man up and fight and stop falling "slipping" or start acting.
