The only reason Floyd is going to double that is because he's fighting Mosley, a well known opponent. Not to mention theres going to be a HBO 24/7 series which Pacquiao didn't get. If Pacquiao vs Clottey was **** I could only imagine what Mayweather vs Clottey would of been, probably a replay of when Floyd fought Baldomir (don't bother you-tubing it, it's not worth it).
The pac numbers 700,000 aren't bad numbers at all. Thats still good numbers. But this should lay to rest all the talk about who is a bigger draw (doesn't matter if people are paying to see you win or lose it still counts).
Yes Mosely is a well known opponent but he is not, has never been and will never be a big payperview draw. What did Mosley vs Margorito do on payperview? Oh thats right it wasn't even on payperview. Before he was going to fight floyd everyone agreed that he wasn't a payperview draw but now that he is fighting floyd and they are about to do sudoku numbers people don't want to give floyd his just due as the new payperview box attraction for boxing. Give props where its due man and let it be.
Anyone who gives a **** about PPV buys, sit back and ask yourself, what the **** do YOU get out of it?
Exactly.
WHO CARES.
hahaha Pacquiao sells 700,000 and now all the sudden WHO CARES how many ppv buys there are hahaha. You wanna know who cares? Pacquiao cares. In an interview in the philippines when asked about a fight with Mayweather. Pacquiao said he should get the bigger split because he sells more ppv's. Referring to pac-cotto vs may-marquez. Youtube it!!!
700,000 PPV is not a bad number. Manny is a cash cow but not the #1 cash cow. All this does is make the Mayweather vs Pacquaio fight that much harder to negotiate. Team Mayweather will never do 50/50 now. What if Mayweather vs Mosley tops 3 million PPV like Richard Schaefer said it will do ? That would shut all these *******s who think Manny is the biggest draw up once and for all. See you May 1st.
There was no 24/7 because hbo didn't wanna waste money on a bum fight. Noone wanted to see Pacquiao-Clottey. This was apparent when they first started talking about it. It sounded like a good idea because they thought all Mayweather had was M. Hatton or Paulie and it backfired. So stop crying. And don't act like Mosley is this big money maker either. Dont forget that before Berto pulled out they we're gonna fight on hbo for free and split 3 million dollars. And that was in a unification bout. Floyd doesn't even have a belt!! And stop talking about how many seats he sold at dallas stadiums first of all IT WAS A FOOTBALL STADIUM!!!! Not a casino in vegas. And the tickets we're like $50. Not that impressive. Floyd-Mosley tickets are a lot more expensive and they sold over 14,000 in 15 minutes so please spare me. And one more thing. Would you like some cheese with all that whine?
According to Sports Business Daily, the Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey HBO pay-per-view registered 700,000 pay-per-view buys with $35.3 million dollars in revenue. A crowd of nearly 51,000 boxing fans turned out to watch Pacquiao retain his WBO welterweight title by dominating Clottey for a twelve round decision at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. wait so the HBO president said he expected the #1 P4P fighter & most exciting fighter in boxing....oh yeah the fighter of the decade to do between 500K-600k?.....lmao
lol at u guys arguing about numbers in this thread
get a life
In the case of making a fight happen I.E. May-Pac the numbers are going to play a huge factor. Fact is pac isn't nearly the draw may is when looking at these numbers and there is no chance in hell mayweather and co. will do 50/50 after this. This is why the numbers mean something because probably one of the best fights in a long time to be made, wont happen anymore, not that it really had a shot of happening anyhow.
and floyd got 1 million ppv with a flopped live attendance... YAH ***ING RIGHT!!
manipulated numbers, every fan i know who doesnt suck floyds ****( 100% of casual fans) find mayweather boring and would pay a cent to watch him fight, besides the *****s would obviously would pay 50 bucks to see another ******, there aint no 1 million boxing purist who appreciate floyd's boxing mechanics AND IVE YET TO COME ACROSSS a casual fan who claims he threw down 50 bucks down the drain just to see someone beat mayweather, has never been done b4, never will
Come on guy. Yes, Floyd is not exciting but that's not why people tune in. People tune in to see Floyd get his mouth shut. I think at this point Floyd is a bigger draw than Manny simply because of that. Against similar type fighters (Clottey Marquez) which are both no names to the average fan Floyd out sold him. Also against similar opponents Floyd outsold him. Men lie, women like NUMBERS DON'T! Can anyone remember when we have had 2 guys in the same or around the same division that have this kind of drawing power with casual fans? It's pretty exciting.
I think if that fight would of done 700k it would of been impressive since everybody was predicting Floyd-JMM to do 400-500k. So if it did 700k I think people would of said it was impressive. A mili was just out of this world.
Pac and Floyd are the cash cows nobody else bringing the moeny they bring. I don't think you guys really understand waht 700k really means like how hard it is to pull that number.
You would have given him props for it because you are an unbiased fan but lets be honest, the rest who are biased would have had a field day with it and crucified him.
Agreed they indeed are the two cash cows and 700k is still great numbers. This reminds of the late 90's early 2000's in the music industry when people were doing Sudoku numbers and then now when artists are struggling to go gold. Fans have been spoiled by the last couple of PPV numbers and thats why they aren't giving just due for these numbers which are still decent.
