floyd is fighting mosley in a fight that has been talked about for years. pac fought clottey with barely any promotion and no 24/7. people never factor in the money that is sent on promoting floyd fights. against marquez, i am pretty sure it was one of the most marketed fights of all time, they pushed it back to mexican national holiday, and had it in movie theaters. but do you notice how at the fight, all the fans were mexican, and it still wasn't sold out. there are so many factors to consider when talking about who attracts more people, manny or floyd and who does better financially. for example floyd fought oscar and ricky in good economy, manny fought them in ***** economy. the marketing thing when comparing mosley and marquez to clottey is a huge factor. if floyd fights clottey with no 24/7 at dallas stadium i guarantee he does under 700,000 ppv's and sells less than 30,000 seat.

That said I am not super impressed with 700,000 for Manny, I mean it is good and he got 50k people there watching it but its not amazing. amazing would have been closer to a mil, which is pretty unrealistic but that's what i would have considered great. However, the event clearly met expectations or better and it did do very well considering it was clottey.

thats why it cost 75 bucks to go to the manny fight and 600 bucks a ticket to see floyd... GBP claims there r tickets out there for 150 bucks, but I called ticketmaster right when the tickets were released and they claimed they had no more of those tickets and they still dont

floyd is the cash cow whether u guys wanna admit it or not... great numbers for manny, but he has failed to show me in anyway that he equals or surpasses floyd as the biggest draw...

Thats my point everybody already knows Floyd is gonna sell more than Pacquiao so they need to stop tryna act like Pacquiao is some kind of cash cow and he can't even break a million buys Floyd average is a million buys

Granting floyd jr is the `cashcow` how much ppv buys did he make against carlos baldomir and zab judah if indeed its a ppv fight....if he had fought clottey how many ppv buys would u think he`d make? Can he sell 51000 on gate tickets???

I cant believe that *****s would want to talk about Pac's earnings now when just 8 months ago, the same people were butthurt when the issue of Floyd's IRS debt, and numerous lawsuit were being talked about.

Pac's US PPV share is a huge portion of the money that he receives from his fights but its not the only portion. A big chunk of it also comes from the broadcasting rights and PPV sales from his homeland.. Its funny when people say that it is insignificant since it is being shown for free. Sure its free, if you are willing to sit in you ass for 6 hours on a 12 round fight. The truth is majority of them shell out 10-15 USD to watch the fight in numerous close circuit venues were its commercial free and its always sold out. And Pac has a share from that too.

Pac also has a share on world wide broadcasting rights particularly in Asia. In his fight against Clottey, Supersports, a partner of ESPN Star, carried the fight in their program. This is simply phenomenal considering that boxing is still not mainstream compared to the popular football, and yet here they were showing it across the continent. Which of course Pac has a cut on whatever Supersport is paying Top Rank.

And about the 37% cut that Top Rank takes from Pac's purse. This is very misleading since it is not the share that Bob take for himself but as payment of Pac's taxes to the IRS. The truth is that Top Ranks revenue does not come from Pac's purse but from gate receipts, broadcasting rights and share of the PPV buys both domestic and worldwide, and sponsors. This is why you will never see Pac fight on free TV.

The people who benefit from his guaranteed purse is his training team, managers, advisers, on some part, his useless entourage, and of course the IRS. People keep discussing that he got 12M guarantee. No he didn't, his guaranteed purse that is registered with the Texas Commission is just 6.2M. Which is quite smart because the lower the guaranteed purse, the lower the money that he needs to pay these people. Because they are all paid by percentage.

The flip side of course is that the guaranteed purse is what it is.. a guarantee. It protects him in case the fight bombed in the box-office. So far it hasn't happened on his fights yet.

Mayweather-Marquez did 1 million PPV buys because it was also available in movie theaters!! So each $8 theater ticket was counted as a PPV buy!! Those ticket buyers would have never paid $49.95!!!

Dela Hoya's fight against Mayorga drew 500K PPV buys. And yet here is Pac getting 700K against a fighter who doesn't have a fanbase, and with little help from HBO on marketing and promotion.
