i cant believe floyd fans are sinking to new lows of hating... scratch that i believe it but still come on man! Pac fought a very tough opponent coming in but that nobody knew about other than hardcore boxing fans and they still did over 700,000 ppv buys!!!!!! Thats ****in impressive!!!!!!!!!!!! It's funny at the sports bar that i went to with a couple friends we thought it was gonna be half capacity cause clottey aint known but not only was it filled inside but also the entire outside seating where they have benches was filled. That just goes to show the drawing power of manny pacquiao people love to watch him fight!

Both Pac and Floyd are huge draws and no reason why both can't be equally respected for it!!!

After the filling of irs tax of HBO last january, Brad Cone discovered that the the real hbo ppv of the numero uno number one reached only 431,505 with a gross sales of 21,553,675 usd only 10,776,838 usd were pocketed and taxable by hbo sports.

So why gbp and hbo reached one million buys? was it manipulated?

But The real scene revealed that it was not manipulated at least the number who watched the fight, Indeed over 1 million fans paid to watch or shall we say forced to watch the fight.

GBP included and counted the movie theaters as ppv buys although it wasn't significant numbers at all because it only generates 9,563 paid viewers in 170 theaters with average payment of 7.49 that grossed only to 71,626.87

The big contributor of the 1 million buys are the bars and closed circuit viewing all over the country, and some of the viewers intended only to drink beers to their favorite bars, but discovered there was an additional 1.5 dollars per bottle in order to watch the fight live.

GBP has only registered 1,520,454 dollars grossed in bars and closed circuit viewing as taxable in their irs aplication. And 603,636 paid to watch or no choice but to watch the fight. There was even double or even more than triple counting if the customer drink more than 1 bottle of beer. But GBP included those numbers as ppv sales. Of course a ppv sales but not hbo ppv worth 50 dollars.

Floyd would almost certainly have got less than 700k against Clottey given that there were less than 2 months in which to promote the fight, given that Clottey was an anti-climactic and very late replacement for what would have been one of the biggest fights in history, and given Clottey's lack of star power.

The fact that HBO only expected Pac-Clottey to sell around 500k PPVs but it actually sold 40% more than they expected speaks volumes.

Anyone who thinks these figures are bad or that they are evidence that Floyd is a bigger draw than Pac is just a Floyd nuthugger and has no credibility with anyone who is objective. By any objective standard these are excellent figures, especially as it also got the fourth biggest live gate since World War II.

You are really talking nonsense here. Arum took an almost unknown Asian fighter, and made him into a superstar, and, whilst doing that, made sure that Manny P. earned multi-millions of dollars. AND...not least, made him into an iconic figure to his people and, maybe, hundreds of millions of ordinary people around the globe.

I just do not understand this senseless hatred of an innocent boxing promoter, whom none of you actually know. He is immensely charitable, and donates fortunes to all kinds of good causes.

He helped to make Pac a star (although what Pac did in the ring was far more important than anything Arum did) but he is holding him back now. He's not all bad but he's no saint either. He and Schaefer between them fouled up the Mayweather negotiations, and it's perfectly true that the last thing that boxing needs is for Pac to fight Margarito next. Even Roach agrees with me on that point. And it's perfectly true that Arum has a long track record for trying to keep his fighters fighting other Top Rank fighters when there are much better fights to be made.

                Good numbers.

I think May-Mosley will double that though.

Outside of California his ppv numbers are average at best. To me it seem's like pacquiao fans are just running out of ammo to keep up with what's actually going on. 1st mayweather used this "random drug testing" to get out of a tough fight with pacquaio, but when he signed to fight mosley it quickly dispelled that myth. But what speak's volume's is when you hear Mayweather fan's poking fun at the fact the Pacquaio did 700,000 buys (which is pretty f-cking good) saying he only did, and pacquiao fan's don't even argue that, because they already have it in their assumption's that mayweather's number's will be better.
Mosley is helping him Jay.What if May was fighting a campbell or even clottey? He would be selling just about the same amount no?
