Again very noble of Roy my boy
Star wins close fight - gives no-name an immediate rematch. Not shabby at all.

Not shabby when a lot of people thought he lost the fight, no?

The least Roy could of done was to rematch him if he had walked away after that type of performance he would of got hammered in the media, he knew this.

I don't know what you mean by most people. Why not take a poll here? I don't remember "most people" winning the fight.

And a lot of fighters have no issues getting "hammered by the media" after escaping a close fight. Sometimes they never give a rematch. Sometimes they wait for years.

          Edited.

A P4P fighter ever been run that close and walked away though? you have to think that Roy had barely been touched before aside from a flash KD against Del Valle.

I thought Jones won that fight, Tarver practically gave away the middle rounds. I was also impressed with Jones in rounds 11 and 12 and I'm not even a Jones fan

That was the only time I had seen Jones deal with adversity he would never fight like that again when backed up against the wall though.

Yeah, I don't think most people had Tarver winning. Think a poll is in order there.

I had Tarver winning rounds 1,2,10 and maybe one other round and thats it. Its the reason I cant stand Tarver, the fight was there to be won and he gave it away, he has only himself to blame for that. Im sure Buddy McGirt would of pulled out his hair during that fight if he had any

I agree, I was very impressed the way he dugged down to win the last two rounds against Tarver. To me that gave him the victory. He need it to win those two rounds to win the fight. And, he did and then he gave an immediate rematch when he didn't have to... He gets credit from me for that...

But, that is also why I don't buy the weight drained excuse in him getting KO by Tarver in the rematch. He was good enough in the first fight to win the fight and he had enough in the first fight to win the last two rounds... But, in the rematch he was drained? I just don't buy that. If that was the case he would of gotten KO'd in the first fight as well.

I dont think Tarver won but there was a feeling that he did win amongst some people. I dont give Roy credit for rematching him because i think its what was expected and Roy would of found it hard to walk away from a rematch.
