Hopkins didn't just shut Tito out he destroyed him, Winky didn't beat Tito up quite as B-hop did.

Hopkins was actually in a fight and had lost a few rounds due to Tito being agressive.

Sure Hops' KO was impressive and showed how badly he had been wearing-down Tito, but Tito still had a chance against Hops, unlike Winky.
I kinda got the feeling that Winky could have finished anytime he wanted but didn't. Mind you he does that in a lot of his fights!

He know's he's winning it, and doesn't bother taking the risk to finish the job.

You could very well be right. It's tough to take a guy out with a jab, especially when your true comfort zone is when you're wearing your gloves as "ear muffs".

Hopkins not only dominated Tito, he systematically broke him down through each round mentally & especially physically. Then to top it off he KO'ed him to punctuate his dominance. Winky shut him out & controlled him, but didn't do what Hopkins did to him.

I give Hops full props for the Tito win. But you say he sytematically broke him down through "each round"? This can be understood more than one way, I suppose, but recall that Tito won some rounds. I guess you mean that Tito paid a big price to win those rounds? Otherwise, at the time of the KO, Hopkins was not fighting a shut-out like Winky.

Hopkins stopped Tito Wright did not. Stoppages in my mind count for alot more than descision wins. Even if they are near shutout descision wins. Especially a stoppage that comes after you won nearly every round. Hopkins stopped Tito and also won almost every round. Hopkins.........winner

Interesting, really. I generally feel the same way about stoppages, but the stoppoge also came in the final round. Correct Hops was ahead on rounds, but he did not keep Tito off his game like Winky.

Both Hops and Winky have retired Tito. Those combine loses will ensure he will not return. I don't think that Tito would have retired in 2001 if it had been Winky that had beaten him, so that KO definitely meant something to Tito also.

I didn't have Tito winning any rounds against Hopkins. I couldn't even give Tito a round and I'm a big Tito fan.

Winky beat Tito with the jab but b.hop laid a beating on him, both fights were very different just two different ways of how Tito can be defeated. Hopkins no doubt is the more dominent fighter.

Hopkins arguably lost the first round because Tito was aggressive...I think round 6 Tito was aggressive again and some gave him that round out of pitty like the first, but his aggression was not effective...it was more so "oh Tito is finally being able to do something even though Hopkins is letting him! lets just give him the round even though Hopkins did the damage when they traded! ya know, out of pity for the kid..."
