Comments Thread For: Super Six Deserves Better Than This

By Jake Donovan - When its idea was first introduced, many were optimistic about the Super Six World Boxing Classic, but realistically expected the tournament to suffer a hiccup or two along the way.

Hope for the best, expect for the worst. It’s the safest way to make it through life, so long as you have a firm grasp on just how bad the worst may be.

These days, the best we’re left to hope for is the latest revised scheduled for Stage Two to not suffer any more setbacks. The worst… well, let’s face it, how much worse can things get?

While it’s not quite at Contender status (which would truly be the worst any series can get), it’s become clear at this point that the Super Six is no longer the priority the sport once hailed it when officially announced last summer. [Click Here To Read More]

Showtime should push both the Ward-Green and Dirrell-Abraham fights to a split site doubleheader on May 15th, leave Froch Kessler on the 24th as it will be the most exciting and is a foriegn fight anyhow so it can probably best stand alone..

This will also give HBO a taste of their medicine as a Dirrell-Ward doubleheader would kill the Khan-Ortiz card that HBO spackled together to the delight of nobody.

They should capitalize on the buzz that Mosley-Mayweather creates.

HBO is really pissing me off. They have the bigger budget, the bigger stars and because showtime showed them up there trying everything in the powers to derail the Super 6. I hope you all have Tivo.

That's a good idea actually since Froch-Kessler is the only fight with a confirmed venue although why have split site. Would be a massive event if they had both fights at the same venue.

I just watched The 360 episode 3 and that **** has me amped.

I've noticed the lack of attention and the buzz die down, which sucks because this tourney is great for the sport and these fighters deserve all the attention they get.

They would probably need two live gates and two site fees to meet the monetary demands of everyone involved. Plus it would create promotional issues that couldn't be solved.

If there weren't so many mouths to feed and so many deals in place it would be a great idea.

It's not that bad in my opinion, as long as the matches are still made and the tournament is still going. This is far from worst case scenario.
It would be naive to think that HBO wouldn't try a counter-move to showtimes tournament. Like it or not, it's a war on PPV's. As a fan it sucks though.
